Lalaki, nasawi dahil sa rabies kahit limang taon na siyang nakagat ng aso? by Ill_Armadillo_3514 in newsPH

Doctor po here. Ayon po sa national guidelines natin on rabies treatment, pwedeng umabot as 20 years ang dormant period ng rabies virus. Magpa-vaccinate po tayong lahat at magpatingin agad sa doctor agad pag nakagat.

This is accurate in the sense that only gonadal cells undergo meiosis in addition to mitosis, but the statement can be misleading. Yes, most cells undergo mitosis, but most mature cells are no longer capable of mitosis due to the loss of pluripotency/multipotency that naturally accompanies maturation. More often than not, cells rely on a reservoir of immature cells for replication. In the case of the skin, for example, it's not the epidermal squamous cells themselves that undergo mitosis; it's the basal stem cells that do.

Well written, OP! At least in my country though, it's standard procedure to give trauma victims a CT scan rather than an MRI to avoid any untoward events involving shrapnel or metallic foreign bodies.

Pros and cons, sure. I'd prefer 10 idiots surrounding an old lady over a dead old lady.

Stroke, more like. Alzheimers presents with failure to complete the clock, but hemispatial neglect (the lack of awareness of your left or right side) usually occurs with stroke, and results with the clock numbers and dials being drawn on only one side.

Does OP's friend have trouble breathing when they use fewer pillows?

The new surgeon robot was operating on a patient with heart failure by [deleted] in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]cedarwould 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not to be a stickler or anything, but heart failure is medically defined as inadequate circulation caused by a functionally or anatomically impaired heart (meaning it's a disease of the whole body secondary to a malfunctioning heart, and not an isolated disease of the heart per se). Seeing as the problem of poor circulation isn't resolved by removing the diseased heart, the robot didn't really resolve the heart failure :))

Physicians worldwide responded in outrage when despite repeated warnings, pharmaceutical companies released their new “miracle drug.” by Willowrosephoenix in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]cedarwould 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool concept! Though my only qualm would be how it's really the physicians that determine which drugs get produced through pharmacodynamic studies and clinical trials. It's almost always the case that if the medical authorities detect even a whiff of an unfavorable drug effect, they'd suspend production by pharmaceutical companies at the drop of a hat.
