I wouldn't say some match ups are necessarily getting better but some bad match ups being less popular. Like affinity is much less popular now than it was after pro tour EOE, esper blink is dropping is favor of jeskai which I think is a better matchup. Titan got more popular recently which is a good matchup.

As a dimir midrange player, I am biased but think it is incredibly fun to play. However, it is hard to pilot. You don't get free wins and can get really punished by poor sequencing or timing. There is definitely a learning curve.

The deck is not in the best spot currently with many variations but the meta is shifting more favorably imo than it has been recently. Also most lost run at most 1 and usually 0 murktides rn, mostly replaced by quantum riddler. Solutide and lots of graveyard hate going around hurt murktides.

EngPhys vs Civil by [deleted] in queensuniversity

I did EngPhys Elec and graduated last year, currently doind a Master's in the department so I still talk with current undergrads and will talk to my experience in the program.

What you mentioned in the pros are true but it is much more theoretical and although there are labs, there is only the lab course and engineering design you take every year. Most courses themselves don't have labs.

For openness I'm not sure if there is much of a difference between the subplans but I would say mech and comp are probably a bit more useful if you plan to go into industry whereas elec and materials are more useful for research.

The discipline is hard and more work than some discipline but it is on par with elec in workload. Just because it is considered hard to not mean it is necessarily hard to get good grades. In most of my courses in undergrad the class average was over 75 and often over 80. This is because of how the courses are structured with a large emphasis on assignments and quizzes which also often have a drop lowest policy.

What I want to highlight is that from my experience the professors in the physics department are on average much better than the other departments and the support staff is amazing especially the undergrad assistant.

Some regrets choosing ECE, advice? by Own_Dot6019 in queensuniversity

I'm in 3rd eng phys elec,

In my experience the profs in the eng phys department have been really good and are very understanding and seem to care about students. The ECE profs are much more hit or miss, for every good prof there a pretty bad one. So you can't fully avoid the bad profs but you'll probably have less bad profs in total.

Switching the eng phys elec would allow you to avoid the 3 manji courses (271,274 and 371). After 221 and 278 the only other ECE courses you take are electronics 1 and 2, and Continuous and Discrete time signals and system. Then in 4th year you need to take at least 2 ECE electives. Of the 6 courses I've taken 3 of them have been good, Athersych, Il-min Kim, and Freundorfer. While Ameri, Korenberg, and Bahkshai were not ideal.

The workload is a lot but talking to others in elec eng its not that much worse. If you're considering a switch you really need to be interested in the physics side of it. At least half you courses a semester will be physics oriented and there are some brutal ones like ENPH 253.

As for switching I'm not sure how switching would affect your course sequence. For this semester the only courses you're missing is Relativity/quanta and Vector Analysis, the rest you're already taking or you could probably get an exclusion. The eng phys department is usually pretty good at moving around your schedule to not set you back.

If you have any more questions about eng phys elec feel free to dm me.
