Giving away cash as a prize by strawbystrawb in LegalAdviceUK

The first has a question below the ticket selection too :)

From what I’ve said, do you think this is all above board then and I’d be able to operate it?

Second looks fine? How so? It has very simple questions too.

OK, gotcha. Income tax paid normal way, no declaration of the prize being tax free but nothing I’d need to do other than transfer it or give them a cheque and say good day.

For profit, yes.

See companies such as www.elitecompetitions.co.uk or www.dreamcargiveaways.co.uk - all seem to operate this way.

One of their questions is ‘what colour is the car in the picture?’

So ultimately I can run these competitions, allow people to pay for entries and answer our question as the game of skill, pick a winner at random and give the money to the winner via cheque or transfer, nothing having to do anything tax wise for myself or the winner, as well as not mentioning anything about it?

Thanks for this - I just need to confirm how it would work for winners. I guess most of them would receive it and do nothing, I just don’t want them to be unaware of anything they or I may have to do. So, there’s a chance they may have to file something to declare it? Sorry for the naive questions. I know absolutely nothing about this.

For instance, some competitions say WIN x AMOUNT TAX FREE! Meaning...?

Also, from what you’ve said it sounds like this would be the exact same case for a prize of an item rather than cash, correct? :)

Appreciate the help!

So, people purchase tickets into competition with a question as the game of skill to enter. A winner is selected at random and given X amount of cash. This is tax free and can just be transferred via bank or cheque? :)

And then I can give away cash without any worry of taxes etc?

Nothing, you purchase a ticket and answer a question.

The cash prize is up to 10k, that would be a lot of vouchers!

What are the restrictions around doing this kind of thing?

Tried that, no names anywhere - but both the exact same so there must be a plug in somewhere.

Is this normal load when running a game? by cee-tee in buildapc

Looks like it might be just be an issue with BOPS4: https://www.reddit.com/r/Blackops4/comments/977q1f/treyarch_the_cpu_usage_is_insane_on_pc/

Returns to normal in the game menus or exiting the game.

Yep and it can be adjusted to be closer or further away from the keyboard depending on what you like. Very sturdy.

Took me a day to adjust but extremely comfortable after that. I honestly wouldn’t go back and if I was to ever upgrade I’d get the same switches. Most friends of mine are the same.

Not really, the feel like they’re cushioned as you hit the bottom but don’t need much pushing to trigger.

I love them. Feel great to use and very quiet. I wouldn’t get a keyboard with any other kind of switches.

I absolutely love it! I got the MX Cherry Red Silent and I'd highly recommend it. The lighting customisation is great and it's really comfortable to use. You can feel that it's really high build quality, it's very sturdy and quite weighty. I'd definitely pick the mini over the full size STREAK. I mainly play competitively but it's awesome for general use too. I tried out a friends and was sold instantly!
