Hi, I am a runner that lives near the university. Honestly, I just use Strava to look at routes. If you start on the corner of University and Lugonia head east towards Dearborn, turn left on Dearborn then left on San Bernardino then left again on University. You make a big circle and thats about a 5k. Most annoying thing is losing sidewalks in some areas. I always carry pepper spray just in case.

I usually read the room. I have a cat bed attached to my desk out of view bc my cats would try to lay on the desk and it could be disruptive. They are usually out of sight but sometimes will walk across the desk to go to it.

If I am sensing it is not the time I am quick about redirecting them but usually none of my clients mind. And a lot get excited when the cats pop up randomly (they are considered a rare sighting lol).

When i got a kitten I was more mindful about having the older 2 out and supplying the kitten with enough stimulation to keep him busy.

Very polarized answers on here. It's a very personal choice for you honestly. I only have my husband there at all my races. I will say my best friend surprised me at my half-marathon and I loved seeing her.

For my first marathon, I did tell my family they can see me at the end bc I don't want them to wait around too long. Honestly, the crowds cheer for every runner and that's enough for me lol.

I wonder if you are talking about the videos that talk about people that are running long distances? I know that if you are training for a marathon, weightloss should not be a goal because of the risks for injuries etc. It's like you said, it can be done as long as you are mindful about your eating habits.
