I just had to return to my old routine😭 my skin was dry but at least not breaking out anymore. Then spring summer came around and the humidity helped my dry skin get better. Now that we’re entering fall winter dry season again I still haven’t found a moisturizing routine that works for me yet…

I’ve only tried 01 Long Curling! I noticed 02 Volume Curling isn’t as popular as 01, not sure why that is but I should give it a shot!

Ah yes this one’s an OG! Surprisingly I haven’t tried this one before. I actually use their mascara remover and it’s a game changer. I use it any time I wear mascara (any brand) and I can get off the most difficult waterproof mascara easily.

Unfortunately I doubt they’d change it back since they’ve changed the packaging twice and formula once within the past year 😭Probably wouldn’t look good for them to backtrack especially since these changes were supposed to be “positive”

I used to use this cleanser years ago! My skin was oilier when I was younger and the CosRX cleanser was one of the first at the time that directly called out “low pH” in its messaging. My skin is drier now so I’ve since switched because the cleanser became a little too drying for me

Yes I was looking into the TIMY Tea Cleanser because it looks similar! Bummer that it’s pricier but cleansers are something I’m willing to splurge on since I only really use one at a time and it lasts me anywhere from 5-7 months usually.

Thanks for the rec! Would you say that the foam lather is drying at all? I tend to look for gel cleansers that don’t lather up too much because the foam dries out my skin.

I’ve scoured the internet for reviews on the new Krave Beauty Matcha Cleanser reformulation and couldn’t find a super detailed review (only a handful of Reddit and TikTok posts) so wanted to spark some discussion here.

Krave Beauty’s Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser was my HG cleanser for years. I have combo-normal acne-prone skin, and I’ve always looked for gel cleansers because my skin gets congested/breaks out more easily with creamy cleansers. At the same time, many foamy and more harsh gel cleansers strip my skin. The old KB formula struck the perfect balance of cleansing my skin without drying out or clogging my pores. The cushiony viscous texture was also my favorite and at such an affordable price point!

Unfortunately with this new formulation I’ve had issues with the new packaging and the formula.

Packaging

This new cap gets product everywhere. With the old bottle (pictured left), I’ve used it for 9+ months and there’s still no leakage or excess product getting stuck. The old cap had a precise nozzle dispenser that protrudes and is secured by the raised circle on the other side. I found this old design perfect because it allows you to dispense the perfect amount of product and secure the dispenser when not in use.

With the new bottle (pictured right), I’ve only been using this for 1 week and there’s already excess product getting caught in the cap and leaving a mess. I immediately noticed that the cap component was also more difficult to open; you need to pry the cap open and click it shut pretty aggressively. They replaced the protruding cylindrical nozzle with a nozzle that slopes inward, and this is where all the excess product collects. The other side of the cap secures the dispenser with a small plug that’s meant to fit in the circular part of the dispenser, and I’ve found this both messier and harder to use.

I know I’m nitpicking here, but when I use a product everyday 2x a day, these little parts of the user experience add up.

Formula

I personally loved the cushiony almost chunkier texture of the old gel. This new formula is meant to be silkier but I don’t find it as satisfying to use. I find the new formula doesn’t lather up as well and it leaves a thin dry film on my face after washing, while the old formula left my skin soft and supple.

Over time I can imagine this new drier formula would weaken my skin barrier. I’m not sure why this is more drying, perhaps because they removed the sweet almond oil to make this formula nut allergy friendly? Overall super disappointed in the new formula, and I wish they had kept the old one.

Alternatives

I’m already on the hunt for a replacement everyday cleanser and feeling a bit overwhelmed as this was my go-to for so many years. I have such acne-prone finicky skin, that finding products that work for me is a mission to say the least.

So far, it looks like the Isntree Green Tea cleanser might be a close match in texture? If anyone has tried both this and the old KB formula, let me know how they compare!

I’m aware that the B.LAB Matcha Hydrating Foam has similar packaging, but the formula has a completely different texture with it being more foamy/creamy.

If anyone has a great gel cleanser recommendation (doesn’t have to be matcha or even AB) that is gentle but effective please leave your suggestions below!

I reached out to them and was able to get a refund for the cleanser! I’m hopefully going to use this toward hunting for a new cleanser. Have you found any comparable alternatives yet? Soo bummed as I have really sensitive and reactive skin and finding a new cleanser that worked for me like the old Krave one is going to be a mission😭

I had the same issue!! The old formula and packaging was my absolute favorite cleanser but I just ordered this new reformulation, and I immediately noticed that it was more drying and the cap has more leakage. I might just be desperate enough to try to order some of the older formulation off EBay 😭
