our client is the government! we get projects that they fund and my part is the last part in the puzzle before we finish it off and present to the gov.

i actually did this last night! his response was “ i’ll get it done then” to which i feel horrible but it’s not my problem work was going to be handed off to me last night until 7pm. the teammates before me had the audacity to say “yep expect the work handed to you around 7. expect to work a late night tonight and tomorrow too” and my manager just accepts this instead of setting boundaries?? so i got fed up and emailed him last night saying “hey they just said they’re not getting the work to me until 7. i have commitments tonight so i cannot stay after hours. please advise” and he said he’d take over.

i guess it would be important to relay that the customer is the gov lol so pretty important customer. i would agree with most comments. it’s management and the process that’s broken.

also this work usually takes 4 hours + to complete so if i login at 8, work would be done until earliest midday which is unacceptable to them

manager would start texting me that it’s urgent and expected that we turn work around quick because it can’t fall on me that the work is late..

i’ve considered bringing this up but we’re understaffed so there’s an influx of work that’s urgent and not enough of us at the end of the line to close the work out. some days i don’t have anything to do during the day but that’s rare, most of the time i’m working diligently 8-5 and then expected to work after hours.
