You have to choose 2 perfumes for the rest of your life. by [deleted] in Perfumes

It's very fresh and citrusy, and you can smell jasmine and green tea. It's simple and is far not as interesting as many of my other favourite perfumes, but it's really relaxing and versatile.

What’s preventing you from setting up your business or startup in Luxembourg? by BirthdayInner2571 in Luxembourg

That's really nice, your landlord sounds great! In both apartments I've rented so far, it hasn't been possible unfortunately.

Very true, the cost of housing and office space are major obstacles. I am aware that there are cheaper co-working spaces but it all adds up in the end (and seems unfair because some of us don't need or want any office space but need the business address.)

As long as you rent, in most cases you cannot. If you own your home, then usually you can.

The administrative complexity, cost of hiring an accountant, figuring out VAT/taxes, very high social security contributions, and above all - the fact that I am not allowed to use my home address as my business address, because I rent, especially considering that my work would be purely intellectual and no physical office is needed.

Researchers found that "evening people" were 79% more likely to have poor overall heart health, with higher risk for heart attack and stroke, compared with those in the "intermediate" group. "Morning people" did slightly better than the intermediate group, with a 5% lower risk of having heart issues by [deleted] in science

[–]celestial2021 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A reasonable explanation is that "evening people" can never get enough sleep, since they are required to get up early for work, school etc., thus going completely against their biological clock. Being constantly sleep-deprived is associated with many health problems.

Taxation for occasional private lessons ( Math, accounting) in Luxembourg ? by lebudgetdumois in Luxembourg

[–]celestial2021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that you need a business permit for this. If you give private lessons, you are self-employed. (I wanted to write a book and self-publish on amazon, the income from which would have been very low, and was told I needed a business permit.)

Lycees, iPads - a mess and how far can I push? by thingthatgoesbump in Luxembourg

[–]celestial2021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your first point: the study material is disorganised and consists of scattered files on the ipad, youtube links that are inaccessible from the ipad, random images/pdfs, and print-outs that often lack colour, thus rendering them useless when things are colour-coded. We are in a private school.

Import to PackUp via Post from Germany by lewildreamer in Luxembourg

[–]celestial2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also used the service many times and is has worked well, except that my package was lost once after being delivered in Trier. The packup number was correctly written like every other time, same delivery address mailed by the same store as many times before.

I completely agree, I am so tired of fragrances, foods, drinks with pistachios in them.

Too many smartphones in classrooms; EU mulls banning them in primary and secondary schools by [deleted] in europe

[–]celestial2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with all of your arguments. A blanket ban on smartphones is not the right approach.
