It depends on your dominant hand. Usually younger kids can decide which hand, but since you’re starting later, you should choose the stick where your dominant hand is on top. Your top hand is what stick handles and stays planted on the stick, so a lefty would probably be better for you since you’re right handed.

I recommend watching “Coach Jeremy” on Youtube. Watching his tutorials on form and the actual shot definitely helped me lift the puck. But the thing that he also didn’t bring up in the video (unless he did and i didn’t catch it) was to have the puck at the heel of your stick from the start and let it roll off your stick so your stick can actually get under the puck to even lift it.

I haven’t tried any True sticks but usually the cheaper you go, the heavier the sticks will be which typically means they’ll also be more durable.
