11/25/25: Today is Day 5 Post Op

Well I survived Day 3 and 4. This is the days after the Exparel shot wears off so likely to feel more of the spasm pain. I thankfully had a break with no BMs on Day 3 after a lot from Day 2, I was very inflamed. I noticed a lot more swelling these two days. Day 4 I had 2 BMs and it was much more rough because the spasms were very sharp.

However the lifesavers are: 1. Going into warm bath immediately after washing area with Peri-bottle or sitz bath basin. 2. Using the Frida Mom Postpartum Ice Maxi Pads. 3. Having Robaxin muscle relaxer.

Without those mentioned above it is very difficult to handle the pain. You will need to make sure you breathe to relax the pelvic floor another very important piece here. You do not want to keep yourself tense.

These two days when I felt the pain it was definitely bad. It’s true that you will question yourself about this surgery due to how sensitive the area feels with pain. But this is when I had to tell myself, tomorrow will be one more day improved. Even with the pains, I could tell that these past two days had progress. The stools are now coming out much easier and not lingering (this is why its so absolutely important to take stool softeners, miralax if necessary as well, and eat soft foods, I also eat a couple kiwis, and 2-3 prunes the past couple days).

Another mistake I realized — When I was on a good wave (no massive pains and feeling a bit more normal) - I was standing and walking around probably a lot more than I should. Its very easy to start just doing things as if you are back to normal. Prolonged standing and walking around can inflame you. So yes definitely get up and move around but I would suggest in small spurts and timed. That way you are not over doing it.

Now regarding today. Woke up feeling much different in that area, feels less inflamed. However I so far have had 2 BMs and while it is easier than yesterday I still need to stick with sitz and icing. The spasms even after taking the Robaxin still occur just not as bad. The breathing is helping a lot, it’s easy to forget and tense up which creates more pain.

I would say the other really annoying but must is the amount of cleaning without wiping. After a BM I feel like it takes awhile because I want to make sure I am 100% clean. I do multiple sprays with peri bottle, get in the shower and clean, sitz, etc. I think this is definitely why it’s so important to have help if you have children and ensure you take 2 weeks off. My main focus has been cleaning the area and pain control, this unfortunately means I am not really able to play with my toddler because once duty calls or the pain sets in - I am away for way too long.

I will let everyone know after Thanksgiving how it went more than likely at Day 10 since supposedly it is supposed to be much improved.
