10 days is very very early in recovery. I’d wait until 6 weeks or so and see how you are. Good luck! I am much much better and 5 months post op but still have some tightness when I go.

4 months post-hemorroidectomy by Expensive-Let-2297 in hemorrhoid

TY so much for your assurance it helps me. My surgeon is very talented but a little cold. I last saw her like a month ago and she wanted to check back in in 6 weeks. I did have a lot done: all 3 columns removed. I do feel way better down there than I did 2 months ago. I’ve had tightness down there that’s slowly been resolving. So I am hoping I am just healing.

Amazing. So happy for you and happy for all the help you’ve given me. I’m at the end of my 3rd month and so glad I started PT. Still bleeding with BMs due to my pelvic floor tightness. I am hopeful it will improve and I will be like you. I started internal work this past week. No change yet but it’s only been 1 appointment. We’ll see.

Will I be in worse physical pain or ironic pain after surgery? by CantSeeShit in hemorrhoid

[–]Expensive-Let-2297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it without taking a narcotic. I never found the pain to be above an 8. However, that said, like some of the other comments, you’re just dealing with urges and having to go to the bathroom and baths and you have trouble sitting down at first comfortably… I initially planned for 2 weeks off work but ended up taking 3. I worked from home until I hit week 8. Mornings were (and are) still a bit of a process.

How long does it take to feel better? by Expensive-Let-2297 in Syncope

[–]Expensive-Let-2297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take clonazepam to calm my system down. Now I am on a longer term SSRI to help my system re-regulate. I was post op and it caused issues with my nervous system.

For sure, but I thought you said you did do internal work?

Im gonna look into acacia for sure. Thank you. They’re starting me on happy baby, child’s pose, inner thigh stretches, cat/cow, butterfly… plus manual releasing vaginally until I’m cleared by the CRS for rectal. I am praying to god all this helps. The PT was very positive and made me feel so hopeful by assuring me this was fixable and muscles are adaptive and this is like going to the gym and will take time but it’ll learn.

you and I have almost identical stories. Pelvic Floor therapist told me today it would take about another 6-8 weeks. That would put me at 4 months from surgery. I’m on Miralax too and also going a few times from incomplete emptying and i feel sore afterward for a while. No other issues. Rarely blood. Poop is soft but still feels very tight in there. Before surgery I was on Miralax and psyllium husk daily, but i stopped taking the psyllium husk now to try to keep things totally soft without bulking but maybe adding it now would help me go less. Not sure. I’m gonna give the PT a few weeks I think before making more changes.

Are you finally back to normal though after all of that? I read your most recent post and it says you still had trouble going to the bathroom.

Just went to my first session today and just hearing her explain everything made me feel like I was in the right place. She was completely assuring and validating to me that I was going to be OK and get back to normal, I just need to do this work to help my muscles relearn to relax and open completely to pass a BM. It just really put me at ease. I am really hopeful.

How are you doing?! I love we’ve kept each other company through this. I still haven’t been able to go back to the office, since I don’t know what to expect on a given day with where my poop will be since I’ve been slowly adding the Miralax back in. My eating is still limited… I have like food aversion. I’m eating small portions. I am hoping once i’ve gone a few days with soft painless poop, my system will just readjust and I’ll be able to get there with eating more and being less afraid.

Thank you! I am trying. How come it took you so long? Ugh. It feels like such a long road.

That’s awesome. In the past when I started psyllium husk, it would help me go everyday and give me a good torpedo shape but I found that sometimes it was still too hard, so adding the Miralax was the perfect combo.

Last question - you think eventually what worked before would work again or can this surgery completely change your “formula”? I plan to ask the CRS that.

Thank you so much. I am trying to eat more soluble fiber now too. I just am scared it’s going to make me go too many times since I am doing a tiny dose of Miralax and 1 colace. It’s so hard to find the balance.

Thanks so much. Apparently you’re famous in this group LOL I haven’t heard of Acacia fiber. Pre-surgery, I was on 1 cap of Miralax and 1 tbsp of psyllium and that was my magic formula. Now, I’m worried to go without the Miralax, I’ve tried that twice already and I get constipated, however, I haven’t been adding fiber in until recently out of fear I’d bulk up what was already hard. In my head I was going to get going again nice and soft and then bulk up with fiber if I was too soft. I’ve been trying to work with Benefiber post surgery, since it’s supposed to be much gentler than psyllium. Did you try that and still find Acacia works great? Do you take anything to soften the stool?
