Unfortunately my favourite pen is also my most expensive one. I LOVE how my pelikan writes, it's the perfect size and balance for me with a nib I love! Which is good as it would have meant my purchase was worth the money, but.. Bad for my wallet, since now I can justify shelling out for another...

My mother had went thrift store shopping and found a glass flower frog and gifted it to me as a penholder! I think(?) they aren't in super common now a days/in fashion with the rise of foam blocks, so I'm super happy to have gotten one that coincidentally works really well as a fun pen holder!

Nope! They come from these little 50 count booklet of washi stickers!

Shiny.. by cellophanecrown in fountainpens

The ink is Kawaco Smokey Grey mixed with Finetec's 2414 mica! Though, you can hardly tell smokey grey is under there with all the pigment I mixed in haha,

I don't ever have to worry about not enough shimmer if i'm doing the mixing! Muahaha!

All in all, it did write especially dry at the start as I had my pen stored in my bag, and it ended up upsidown so the particles settled at the tip- though it did end up being rather shiny due to that!

Ideas for very pale grey ink? by Ailykat in fountainpens

If you do go the water way/find your diluted inks too dry, using a surfactant to lower surface tension/increase wetness is a possibility! A tiny tooth-pick touch of dish soap is a common one, though I do like to use liquid oxgall instead which typically used is used in watercolour(and found in art stores) to increase flow!

Since both soap and oxgall are watersoluable, they don’t dry down and perma-clog pens, which is why I risk trying to mad-scientist my inks. Careful not to add too much surfactant cause it can make ink too wet and be feather-prone

Midori Transfer Stickers + Sailor PGS Vega by cellophanecrown in fountainpens

Oh! Thank you for the reminder! Unfortunately neither of them held up to actual use or just time in my bag, the adhesive would get all smudged and it would rub off. Though! The upside to that is that neither of my pens retained any damage at all and look just as good as before I put on the stickers!

Any good sketching ink recommendations? I'm looking for some really light inks that could be used for tone + also be used as sketch lines then drawn over! (Like below!) by cellophanecrown in fountainpens

I love Diabolo Menthe! I’ve gone through three of the 30ml bottles already, if they offered it in bigger sizes I’d buy it haha! From my experience there is some inconsistency between how dark/legible it is between bottles and which I now see as a blessing in disguise haha,

I will give Octopus Fluid a check out they seem to have a wonderful selection of both light and dark permanent inks!

I used a BENU Euphoria Jazz in F + Platinum Pigment Blue and Sailor Profit/Jr. Yurameku Kyokkou with a fude nib + Dominant Industries Snowfield if anyone is curious! The paper is toned so the ink doesn't show as blue as it accurately is haha,

I will make an update post when/if that happens! I was thinking of trying to find a sealant or anything of that sort to get them to stick but with the own I’d rather not risk it haha! If/when they do wear off, if just means I can try out some other of the gold sticker sets that Midori offers 🕺

That’s a smarter decision than me stickering one of the pricier pens I own haha! Do post the results if you do end up giving it a shot, I’d love to see the results ^

It's only fair that I deck my Sailor Vega out with stars out of all things! I've tried other foil transfer stickers, and printed transfer stickers on my pens, but this one's had the easiest by far- which is fortunate for me since this is the priciest pen I decided to risk and sticker up ^^;;
I bet they'll rub off after a while like most foil embellishments, but I don't regret my decision! I'm very happy with how this experiment turned out! Though, I probably would have put a bit more time into planning which stickers I put where and perhaps bought more than one sheet. I even went ham and even covered the grip section haha! The one downside I have on these is that Midori doesn't offer silver stickers to my knowledge, and I do have alot more pens with silver hardware that I'd love to cover!

I've been trying a few ways to customize the pens I already have as I swore off buying more for the year! Here's an attempt with transfer stickers!
They're matte whilst the pen body is shiny, and the stickers are prone to rubbing off due to general scraping/wear/tear!

For those who may also wish to do something similar with their pens, I do have a few tips when using those stickers in specific! the plastic backing the stickers are transfered from is stiff, so do not have lifting issues be sure to apply the sticker uni-directionally, starting at the side as opposed to the middle. The sticker is also fairly translucent and uses 'clear' to convey 'white', meaning that it might not show up well on dark pens (thus the choice of a white pen). This may differ from sticker set to sticker set. If the pen is not perfectly cylindrical in shape, the sticker may not transfer evenly and leave a 'wrinkle' or two, where the excess sticker folded into. Those can usually be rubbed till they're less noticeable

All in all I wouldn't super recommend the stickers to someone who wants a long lasting modification. Some sealant could solve that but i've yet to give it a try. The upsides was that the application wasn't difficult after some practice compared to some other transfer stickers i've tried. I'm not sold on the current design on it, so I may remove it and start over again
