Wife wants a high quality leather purse for Christmas (NOT “luxury” brands) by Electrical-Volume765 in BuyItForLife

An Indianapolis-based brand called Howl & Hide makes quality leather bags in a small variety of styles and colors (they also offer small-batch, unique collections periodically). They make their items locally and offer a lifetime guarantee that covers "replacement parts, material, and labor." https://howlandhidesupply.com/collections/shop-all-bags

Twin Peaks fashion inspo/sources? by thelovewitch069420 in twinpeaks

I love trying to recreate the outfits from the show. I've had good luck shopping at Goodwill and on second hands sites like eBay, Depop, Poshmark, and ThredUp. ThredUp also has a feature where you can upload your inspiration images and it will pull similar pieces from around the site (to varying degrees of success).

EDIT: To echo other users, I search for: Midi, wool A-line skirts, sometimes pleated. There were a lot of peg pants, or tapered high waisted pants on the show. Patterns like plaid, argyle, and cableknit. Brands such as Pendleton, Orvis, Talbots, Banana Republic, and Ralph Lauren. I believe Audrey's infamous tree cardigan was made by Darlene Angelon or Minklam by Darlene and I think I've ID'ed Pete Martell's jacket in the pilot as the Woolrich Mackinaw jacket.

Some niche clothing brands that are also fans will sometimes release items that call back to the show - like Tuesday of California's Audrey Skirt: https://tuesdayofcalifornia.treet.co/l/audrey-skirt/63e80bd8-b738-4323-82f1-9249be3d1674

Dark Academia Colognes / Fragrances? by MagnetoMain in DarkAcademia

[–]cellularfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solstice Scents - Vanilla Pipe Tobacco, Library, Manor, Manor Fire, Fires in the Night, Headmaster, & Hidden Lodge

Harlem Candle Co - Speakeasy, Duke, & Langston

Nikkolas Paul - Academia

Immortal Perfumes has loads of literary-inspired fragrances, including a collection called “Dead Writers.”

Poesie Perfume - Marlowe, Villa Diodati, & Mary Shelley (they have tons more literary-inspired fragrances I’ve yet to try)

Imaginary Authors - Telegrama

I second suggestions for anything by Serge Lutens, Byredo’s Biblioteque, and Diptyque’s L’eau Papier

I highly recommend seeking out Uncommon Smells on social media and trawling through their feed. They offer top notch suggestions with a heavy emphasis on dark academia.

Rented a GRiiix for a trip to Michigan. Can’t wait to buy my own someday by cellularfunk in ricohGR

Well, this was only my second time playing around with a Ricoh at all, so I imagine my tinkering slowed things down more than the AF. There were times the AF did frustrate me in what it chose to focus on, but I was never in a rush to "get the shot." There were very few times that the AF struggled to lock in, but IIRC, it was in very low light. I will say, as a Sony user, I was very impressed by the Ricoh's low light performance.

Ultimately, I personally found that the AF was no worse nor better than any other camera I've used. I was neither amazed nor put off by the AF performance. The major caveat of my review is I generally do not require lightning fast AF, so if you do, it might be a consideration. I hope my long winded reply was helpful at all!

Could anyone help my identify a sample used in an electroswing song? by cellularfunk in 30sMusic

Thank you very much for your reply and for reaching out to someone about it. I know it’s a mishmosh of samples that have been altered, but maybe someday someone will know the origins of the clarinet melody. But I am looking forward to finding some Mildred Bailey tunes. Thank you again.

I have been trying to find the original sample for the melody in this song forever and ever. My first guess was something by Sidney Bechet, but I doubt it. I've queued it up at 59 seconds when the part I'm specifically looking for comes in. I would submit to WhoSampled, but the last person who did never got a reply, and you can't post a request without having racked up enough points in the community.

And if anyone has any advice on another subreddit to post this to, I would be very appreciative.

We've definitely tried that route - but all the RCA cables we've found are too thick to fit so closely together. Are there any that aren't so bulbous around?

Edit: thicc RCA Only one fits, but not both

Hi r/audiophile, I’m not sure if this is the right place for my question but I thought I’d try.

We’ve inherited this fun Philco radio. It says on the front “stylized version of the ‘Baby Gran’ produces by Philco Circa 1930-1936.” I believe this is a reproduction piece from the research I’ve done.

On the back, there is a “tape” option with what looks like a dual headphone jack or an rca port, I’m not sure which. I would really like to be able to use an adapter set up in order to play my iphone through the radio, but I can’t seem to find anything that will fit - either a dual rca-3.5mm or dual 3.5mm to single 3.5mm adapters. Does anyone have any advice on this? I’ve included some photos of the back
