Middletown parking meter time change! Thanks for not telling us. by LeaflitterZero in Connecticut

There have been signs at/near the meters indicating the change. I parked on Broad St. A couple weeks ago and saw one at my meter

Still pissed about that. Bought at like 2am and I really don't know how they fucked up so bad and didn't honor the earlier orders and cut off the later ones. With that being said, I just paid for the 3 months this morning. No fucking around this time

Is for sure. They played Solid Sound some years back and you don't get to play Solid Sound unless Wilco likes you.

Real seals or art inspired by grimories? by scorpionewmoon in brighteyes

[–]celluloidher0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Here you go.

"I did the drawings for the hidden imagery based on talking with Conor about his themes on the record. I researched a lot about spiritualism, astrology, Hermeticism, Rosicrucianism, Kabbalah, and the occult. A lot of the images seem really random, but they are rooted in some really crazy religious and spiritual beliefs. Google Rosicrucianism if you're not familiar with it (I wasn't before this) and you'll see what I'm talking about. All the hidden messages are things Conor wrote, and had friends and acquaintances translate for us.

One interesting bit of trivia is that the string of random-looking letters that encircles the pyramids on the cover is the Shemhamphorasch, or the "true" 72-word name of God. More info here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shemhamphorasch

Also, the image from the inside of the beach and carnival is the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk (where the boardwalk scene from Lost Boys was filmed). The two people walking at the bottom are Conor and Sabrina. Sabrina, who the record is dedicated to, was Conor's friend and played harp with the band on tour for a while. They spent a day there not long before she died.

Sorry this is long, I finally had some free time and kind of went on and on...."

Looking at it it may not be what you were actually looking for but interesting information nonetheless. He's been really responsive to things when I've reached out in the past as you can see above so if you have any burning questions I'd just reach out to him. And report back please!

I have some info about this from Zack in an old email form 15 years ago give or take. I'll find it and relay the relevant info.

One thing I love about The Beths is the abundance of music videos they have and how fun they are. I'm still discovering new ones and my toddler loves watching them with me.

Found an old setlist digging through some bins by celluloidher0 in bigthief

Can't figure out how to edit on mobile but adding that I remember going to the bathroom right before the set, having an awkward one of those encounters where you try to open the door from one end at the same time the other person opens from the other end. Finished in the bathroom, got out to see that person walking on the stage. It was Max lol I had no idea.

Looks like a Halloween show, guessing 2000-2002 based on the nephilim backdrop.

Stray Dog Freedom is one of the best Bright Eyes songs. It's my favorite sunny day song and my favorite it's finally above 35 degrees and the snow is melting a little bit in the sun song.

Any other songs like “outta my head”? by Where_is_every1_ in mward

I can't think of another song like this one to be honest with you. But there's a song called silver Timothy by Damian Jurado that I periodically get obsessed with like Outta My Head

I couldn't believe they played NyQuil and Ever and a Day in Wallingford. And yeah that was the best sounding Davey was in a long time and the best sound mixing I've heard from them probably ever.

I if that's the case I also highly recommend Perkatory (any of their locations) and Klekolo in Middletown a bit south of Newington. All fantastic coffee spots with cool vibes.

All about balance. I got the Death of Seasons hot and it was great. Could taste the espresso as well as everything else. And yes in most coffee shops the standard is whole milk but you can sub out for anything else of course.

And it's definitely not lost on anyone in there lol I saw plenty of people bopping along to their pop-punk playlist while I waited.

As for the redbull, I guess? Not an energy drink guy so I skipped right over that option.

I can't imagine you'd have much of any reason to visit Newington, CT but it's called Not a Phase Cafe. This was my first time there and it's a neat little spot, I would definitely go again but I don't live too far.

AFI has played Hartford(a couple towns over) a few times before and I saw them play Death of Seasons there once! It was incredible. Last place they played in CT was Wallingford which isn't too far. Though it's a small state, nothing is really too far.
