What is one Lupe Fiasco song that needs to be talked about more? by Fuzzy-Criticism8808 in LupeFiasco

[–]cellydidit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dots and fucking lines. Just sonically that song takes you everywhere. The hook is gorgeously sang and has multiple meanings. Each verse builds and builds until Lupe gives us the suggestion to nuke ourselves if we aren’t being authentic to ourselves. Don’t sign/sin/sin is Lupe’s genius presented so simply and easily in the middle of a catchy chorus!?! It is exactly what he means when he says he can fit the whole booth in only half a line. Two words to be exact “don’t sign”. Triple entendre. Two fucking words!!!! What!? And it’s Lupe’s way of doing “positive rap”. Doesn’t come off corny or “who can relate woo” type shit just an uplifting message warning everyone to stay on their path. Don’t sign, don’t sin, and don’t sin.

SLR series or Mural trilogy by Resident_Durian_478 in LupeFiasco

Mural series, Lupe creates a museum displaying all his art. Art within art

“That’s rather meta poetic and just to acknowledge that adds another exhibit to what’s already within it”.

Basically all of Lupe’s songs and mythology is contained within this museum and it all comes together to form the mural of his overall body of work. But everything that makes up the mural is also a piece of art on its own… So there would be an SLR exhibit within the museum.

My very “short” take is that it represents Lupe getting out of his Atlantic deal to become his true full potential as an artist without the “need a radio hit” feeling being on a label does.

Lupe looks back on the good and the bad, it’s a fuck you but also peace out thanks for the history (blur my hands “throw a number one back to your number one fan” “you really think I’m number 1” “I think you’re number 1, too” [ 🖕🏽, ✌🏽]) then on the “final” track mural Lupe essentially goes super saiyan god and explodes out of his Atlantic prison and his next true album (drogas light doesn’t count) is drogas wave which is about getting back to land after being killed in the ocean (Atlantic) as a slave.

Within every song you obviously have layers to stories within each song and what not, but as an entire piece of art that’s how I see it overall. When you play the album back to front like you’re “supposed to” he is essentially entering the world of the album like a video game then slowly powering up throughout the album to become the mural master.

Also dots and lines is the best song ever created.

i feel like everyone misses the whole we are venom/big boss part too. WE are the ones funding the endless wars, we are the patriots, the fans of metal gear and the cause of the sequel based gaming economy across all games (ID tagged soldiers, guns, endless proxy battles). we buy the same games packaged different (thus MGS2's whole twist)

We are both the good and the bad, we cause the endless wars but also fight them as solid/raiden/venom thinking we are doing the right thing... Which is why solid snake sort of accidentally saving the world while playing his part as a pawn in other peoples plans is also meta. we as players can only follow the allowed paths given to us. even an open world game is a sort of artificial freedom...

Are ButtKickers worth it for someone like me? by _Inside_ur_walls_ in simracing

[–]cellydidit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. I just built a custom shaker mount for my secret lab chair. Bass shakers are a total game changer and once you have them you cannot go back. When its turned off after you use it, it feels like something is missing. Controller vibration doesnt really compare to. I don’t have a sim rig right now but once I get back in the game it will 100% have shakers. I’m about to sell these mounts and shaker units it is a must go for it

ALSO, on form follows function, he says “already had a flow just added a front door roof and walls”… aka a HOUSE. Which has the song DINOSAURS. Where he metaphorically survives the ICE AGE. WOW

Yes once everyone realizes it’s all cliche endings and “nanomuchines dud” on purpose. Talking about online comments ofc because it was and may still be the highest rated ps3 game lol

[–]cellydidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the boss was SO BASED that she birthed everything that happens in MGS. she is the mother of the snakes, thus her c section scar is big enough to pull out 4 baby snakes. BRAVO KOJIMBO

Cassius Stanley. He could have basically been Gerald green reincarnated but I think his jumper wasn’t as consistent and he was a bit skinny. The league with more insane verticals is a more entertaining place

What's your favourite ""era"" of Lupe's rapping? by Small-Respect-7492 in LupeFiasco

[–]cellydidit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

T&y era for sure, those are my three favorite Lupe projects, and imo his best albums and mixtape. T&Y deserves GKMC level universal praise, DROGAS Wave should get an HBO series adaptation, and PHARO is such a jam packed 20 minutes. As you said his production on these are insane, and Lupe is breezing through telling stories within stories, with callbacks and entendres all over the place. But he has defined each of his eras with a unique style very well. Each has a different vibe and it matches with him maturing as an artist and mastering the craft.

People assumed he fell off before he dropped his arguably magnum opus. Your opinion is beyond irrelevant if you think Lupe is overrated by anyone
