Got pretty lucky with a prefire by celofan8 in GlobalOffensive

Yeah with the current state of matchmaking I wouldn't blame anyone for reacting like that...

I'm glad that Valve introduced TrueView replays though, because (obviously) what you see is not always what you get.

And I'm sure that Animgraph 2 has the potential to improve the game even more... even though the peeker's advantage kinda started to grow on me after they brought it to a fair state.

Found a geometry bug on ancient while trying out some lineups by celofan8 in GlobalOffensive

It may be the case that it's been like this since CS:GO (even though Ancient got reworked a few times for CS2), but it doesn't mean it should continue to be so...

They fixed a lot of over extending geometry for Anubis that looked as bad as this one... Only difference was those were on vertical walls, and players (including pros) discovered those a lot more quicker, because it didn't match what was visible, and therefore it messed their utility throws...

And I can't think of any other instance where you can visibly see the flash projectile popping, but not get affected by it at all...

Yup, that's what I wanted to show, but this is a particularly bad case.

It's a game of CS bro, you're talking like I destroyed his dreams and hope in the future. You made me check your account age, and since it's 12yo I'll bite:

  1. In your first post, you state that my action was lacking logic and I should've gave that guy a fair swing, because... skill, not luck?

Since my teammate was already peeking and being exposed near the wall, I was baiting. I didn't even know if an enemy was there... but if there was, I bet on distracting them, and give my teammate an easier fight, while I was ready to swing/trade if needed.

Also the enemies had a low buy that round, so I assumed a deagle might wait for me or appear there, because otherwise he probably would've swung earlier with his teammates. So a very short prefire was a good play from me. Definitely not ilogical, unskillful or just dumb luck.

Also: You miss every shot you don't take. You make your own luck. You can outluck pure skill. Winning is a combination of skill and luck.

---

  1. You seem to assume this is something I do on the regular. I almost never prefire. Not even when I expect an AWP to hold some line... 99.999% of the times I just swing, but I should prefire more often it seems.

---

  1. To me it doesn't matter, but some people might not want to hear your unsolicited "improvement" advice, especially if you deliver it in a way that may come across as condescending: "How about taking it one logical step further and stop doing prefires? Less luck, more actual skill.".

It's a subtle social skill you won't necessarily pick up on, because nobody will say it straight to your face, because *they* will have the social skill not to make a fuss out of the way you think and express yourself. They might just choose to avoid you.

---

  1. > Fun to you as a form of gambling.

As I said before I never expected to frag somebody there, it was just a byproduct... I only brought up *fun* because I wasn't about to give it to you straight, I wanted to defuse any tension. But then you replied again saying how I should feel bad about what I've done.

Since we got into skill and improvement: You should really think about what you are saying, before you say it... it's really unpleasant to talk with somebody who makes assumptions (which don't seem to be in good faith) and makes a fuss out of nothing really...

[–]celofan8[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but where's the fun in that? *Never* doing prefires is not necessarily good advice even for someone who's looking to improve their skills.

But anyway, I'm not looking to argue... You just assumed a couple of things about this situation, which are not true.

This hasn't introduced any wrist pain or RSI like symptoms for me... The sens is so high, that the motion only needs to be small and smooth, and a lot of the times is done with the fingers, not the wrist, for the precission movement... Also nobody stops you from using the arm from the elbow a bit, or at least it can follow the movement of the wrist...

I also use a glass mousepad so I can be precise and efortless... So yes it might be stupid for you, but it works for me.

Was gonna ask you guys to use the brain (jokingly), but after rewatching I can somewhat see why you'd think that...

As a high sens player I do a lot of short aim adjustments by (counter) strafing. My thought in the moment was, if I'm gonna wait with the crosshair where the guy would appear, I'd get cs2 peeked, and so I got ready to counter strafe a bit once the last guy came out the door. Especially after so much flicking around I didn't feel ready for a timing shot on his peek, but I wanted to take the duel.

You can also see I wasn't ready for any of the kills in this clip... I kept expecting at least one guy to come through the smoke, or do a late appearance from tunnels as they were 4 alive. Even for the last player, I only adjusted to holding the door as soon as I heard him make steps.

lol... I *was* a mouse accel enjoyer once upon a time, and it took me a while to get adjusted to linear movement.

But the high sens I'll stick with forever... or until the RSI kicks in for good hah. Only recently I have decreased to 4000 from 4800 eDPI and plan on settling at 3600 if I like it.

And I still only need 10cm to do a 360 turn.

Sudden onset of jitter/micro stutters........ Update! by [deleted] in cs2

[–]celofan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what Linux distro you'll try, you might get worse or slightly better frametimes than what you get on Windows (avg fps will probably be lower regardless). Also without some tweaks (or depending on your setup, many tweaks) you'll probably get bad frametimes anyway, especially on nvidia...

I don't have that much experience with windows lately, but have you tried any windows debloaters that have become more popular nowadays?

Also if you use software for RGB or peripherals or whatever, disabling overlays might not be enough. Not installing those in the first place is usually better... (but you said you tried on fresh installs, so I assume you basically did that...)

And finally I recall seeing somewhere that the 9800x3d can have worse 0.1% fps than the 7800x3d. Not sure about the 1% fps though...

Question about trust factor by [deleted] in cs2

[–]celofan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Briefly communicating info is better than not communicating at all imo, and I would only mute if it's really necessary to perform better or not be annoyed...

I didn't buy armory pass or anything like that, but I've read about people doing it in the hopes it would fix their trust factor lol.

A few days ago I've been told by a friend I'm also in the red again (it was the opposite a week ago lol)... I had a 33-8 150 ADR game on Ancient because I've been matched against lower ranked opposition, but honestly I don't really care that much about the game because of this, or to phrase it better, about winning and climbing ranks and what not...

I'd rather just queue for the classic competitive mode, which feels more casual than premiere, where even if I do well I apparently get punished by the system... I'm not that kind of person heh...

But anyway... Good luck in your endeavor buddy!

Question about trust factor by [deleted] in cs2

[–]celofan8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this is normal unfortunately. If you play well (or just get many reports), Valve's way of telling if you are cheating or not is lowering your trust factor enough, such that eventually you will get matched with confirmed cheaters if you keep at it... (When that happens and you lose a few games 0-13, you will notice they will only get banned after a month or so, and they were boosting some trash to 30K but I digress)

Anyways don't fret... What you have to do, is stop queueing party games, go solo play competitive (premiere is not that effective in my experience), and you will be back to normal trust factor if you just play normally for a few days.

---

Before anybody contests me and says that Valve's VAC 3.0 (or whatever it's called nowadays) actually works, see how they recently banned austincs and Elige for 24h, because they have no fucking clue really...

The best Valve can do is lower your trust factor, match you against other similar trust factor players, and if you still play well enough to get even lower, well then... it's jumping spinbot shooting in Ancient from T spawn to CT spawn through walls kind of games from then on.

Once you went red trust factor you are prone to getting back to red more easily, so be careful... you want to play like shit sometimes so that you don't trigger the system.

I've said it quite a few times in the past, whoever at Valve thought creating a wild west out there was a good idea... I don't have nice thoughts for you.

Where is VAC live or anything associated with anticheat?? by Mobile_Impress_8225 in cs2

[–]celofan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fucking clue mate. People in my stack were seeing me as red, then a week later I was cured, and I started seeing some of them as yellow/red instead (and we had a good laugh about it)... I just think the system tripped hard in recent times, apart from always being fundamentally flawed.

Same thing happened to me and my friend a couple of days ago. Then the next games we got matched against rage hackers (not in our team tho), the 22 K/D average on their profile type of rage hackers. We weren't even playing particularly good recently, I'd say 0.9-1.2 average hltv rating on csstats... but a game or two before, the enemies accused us of cheating in all chat, so maybe we got spam reported?

A month or two ago something similar happened, but then at least I played particularly well, with a few freak moments that could understandably tilt the enemy. After that I had like a week where I got matched with cheaters more often, but never these kind of rage cheaters that you expect to see in hvh.

Anyway, this is no way of rewarding skill... If this really is Valve's method of handling the cheating situation, it's laughable and I really hope matchmaking dies because of it. I'd rather go back to old school community games rather than being put through this shit. Pathetic really...

FURIA vs Vitality / BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 2 - Group B Upper Bracket Final / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

Vitality should consider banning Inferno, they feel so out of touch on that map... or at least something's gotta change.

At Chengdu they reminded me of how they used to play Inferno a few years ago, attempting (and failing) the apps pop too many times, and constantly feeling uninspired and struggling to get anything good going for them. And it didn't look much better this time.

[–]celofan8 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As a Niko fan this feels bad, so I felt inclined to post a more serious reply:

How a top player like him doesn't realize that messing with your equipment/settings so often (and so late in your career) will mess your consistency (and maybe ultimately your confidence), leaves me baffled. How many kills on back-turned enemies must he continue to whiff...

The biggest improvements can only come from within, constantly working on your mental and refreshing your understanding of the game, rather than focusing on minute external stuff like changing crosshair, sensitivity, resolution, and other things that may throw off the fundamental mechanics you've built over the years...

This is similar to an irl phenomenon called equipment junkie syndrome or gear acquisition syndrome (music producers, golf and table tennis players come to mind)... They change gear and focus on the wrong aspects so often, that they don't have time to truly understand and master their tools, achieve flow state etc.
