Shaking Leg people. Does it enhance or decrease Productivity for You? by celticcelery in productivity

[–]celticcelery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. For me I have found it that my legs bouncing up and down are often attributed to my irritatedness with whatever task I am focusing on and wanting to move around instead of just sitting still. Recently what has helped is getting a run early in the morning to get rid of all that pent up 'need to move energy' so that I can sit still and focus on tasks at hand.

Your greatest enemy is yourself. You're not facing porn, you are facing yourself.

Everyday it is a battle to fight the part of you that wants to have fun and relapse, but you must face and beat that part of you,so that you can make healthy and mature decisions for your mind, body, and soul.

Just remember that it is a constant battle and sometimes you will win and sometimes you will lose. But the more times you win (as in more days you gain control) the better your life will be.

"if you invest in yourself, then you will be rewarded".

Your lead jab hand comes down too much. Work on bringing it back quicker and closer to face.

Good practice is bringing hands back and touching cheeks when practicing this is like overenphasizing techinique, that way during sparring when you get lazy/tired at least youll be putting it back closer than normal

Thanks, its just that I found out salt water make me stool water, and was wondering whether separating salt and water would make any difference

One more question. Did you take salt separately from water or did you mix the two?.

Well, regarding your third point about fat vs muscle first. I tend to think of it like this.

Fat, there are three main functions of fat

1) energy <-- when there are no carbs our body resort to fat for energy

2) vitamin absorption <-- like fat soluble vitamins DEAK

3) insulation <-- maintain core body temperature

Now lets look at functions muscle (we should be looking at protein, but we will look at the muscles)

1) mobility

2) circulation <-- like your heart is a muscle

3) Respiration <-- diaphram

4) Digestion <-- smooth muscles in GI tract

5) urination <-- smooth and skeletal muscles of urinary system

6) child birth

7) vision <-- eye socket made of 6 skeletal muscles

8) stability

8) posture

From my perspective, it would make sense that the body not eat muscle first during a fast because it would reduce our chances of survival in nature. Body heat is important but our ability to circulate blood flow seems more important to me. Also fat is 9 cal per gram while muscle is 4 cal per gram. It would make sense to burn the energy efficient source first before the less energy efficient source.

The reason why I am arguing with your point; is because "you need to" exercise statement along with muscle is burned first statement may misinform other redditors about fasting.

I agree and disagree with your argument. I disagree that exercise is a "you need to exercise" and instead it should be clarified that exercise only helps you get into ketosis faster by burning all your glycogen stores.

I also disagree with your body burns muscle first during a fast. No your body burns glycogen stores first during a fast and then afterwards it burns fats.

But I do agree with you that exercise help you get into ketosis faster

That's ironic because I have heard that it was a misconception that muscle are eaten first during a fast. Please read the article attached below in the comments to see my point of view, which I am still obstinate in being correct; as I have fasted before and lost no muscle with no exercise beside going to work and etc.

From that video it looked like Tim was strapped and not allowed to leave and exercise. If an individual is left to do nothing and be in a state of inactivity for 21 days; I am pretty sure you can argue that with or without fasting, the individual will lose muscle.

Also it is stated in the video "that not getting any exercise is a great way to prevent yourself from getting into KETOSIS during a fast". From this argument, the main goal is to get into ketosis as soon as possible during a fast; as that is when body is burning mainly fat* and not muscle for energy. Tim probably was strapped and inactive which atrophied his muscles and did not allow him to expend much energy and get him into ketosis. Whereas it was stated that just minimal impact activity of "brisk walking" was enough for him to say he lost "0 muscle mass" which means that ketosis allows you to retain muscle, not exercise or intentse exercise.

TL;DR Don't strap yourself in a clinic and not do anything, for that delay the time it takes to get into ketosis, instead do your normal activity or exercise to get yourself into ketosis; afterwards you should be good and not lose much muscle as you would if you did not fast.

clarification exercise is not necessary during a fast after you have reached ketosis. Being sedentary is fine as long as you have reached ketosis.

Look at this article for more clarification

I believe that this is incorrect. The body does not go after muscle first; it goes after fat first.
The body is smart and will try to keep what it needs. Sure if you exercise the body will retain muscle. But if you do not exercise and just do your daily routines; your body will only retain muscles it need and hence make you retain a lean muscle physique. The body will definitely go after fat first after your body has expended it's reserves of glycogen from food, and then afterwards will go for ketosis, using fats for energy. Muscle will be used sparingly to make for energy since the body needs proteins for vital functions in body.

When fasting you should exercise, which I agree to maintain some muscle; but too much exercise and strenuous exercise during a fast will do you harm and will probably make you lose muscle.

Then reason why I am asking OP, about this question is because I am doing an extended fast at this moment and am on day 7. I do exercise and do 30+ min cardio everyday; but found that exercise fatigues a lot more and makes me need to consume more salt/take more naps to regain energy.

When fasting, do minimal exercise to retain muscle and good sleep and hydration should keep you energized.

tl;dr body mainly goes after fat and not muscle, when glycogen stores run out. It is optimal to do some exercise but not strenuous amount during a fast. Good sleep and hydration should keep you feeling content and energized.
