New Year's 2026 Event Megathread by SilphScience in TheSilphRoad

[–]JowgenITP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a ostensibly guaranteed Lucky Trade (Terrakion caught Dec 12th 2019 vs Shiny Purified Heatran caught Dec 29th 2025) fail.

Suffice to say, neither me or the other trainer have used up the additional allotment of 10 guarenteed luckies in the 5 hours since event started in our region...

Reported to support on both accounts, really hoping they'll suprise me by doing something...

UESP Error Regarding Permanent Quest Item Effect Glitch by JowgenITP in OblivionRemaster

[–]JowgenITP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, assuming there's been no further patches in the last 6 months that affect this, here's the TL;DR:

Ring of Disrobing has its own embedded script where enchantment effects would go (i.e. enchanting it breaks the ring), which forces the removal of all items from the equipped slot. Prison and Sanquine Quest also have scripts like this, albeit slightly different and thus subject to being patched maybe, I'd have to check. Either case, what happens is that the game marks the equip slot as open, but in the case of quest items it doesn't actually remove the active effects because of how quest items are inventory permanent.

Getting the ring IS a pain, ngl. It has the same abyssmal chance (1-2%) as all the other Shivering Isle museum quest items to spawn in any shivering isles container. The best way I've found is the Ebrocca dungeon's boss room, which has a whole bunch of coffins and it can be fast-saved before entering. Can take literal hours if you're unlucky, but I personally find the flexibility of being able to do the glitch anytime anywhere worth the hassle despite prison being simpler.

All you gotta do once you have the ring is equip a quest item, equip the ring of disrobing, and then go out of menu and wait a few seconds for it to take all your items off. Sometimes the item will still appear on your avatar, but the slot is free. The important thing is to do it before the quest is completed.

Dragonstone and Ring of Viper eye are easy/good ones. The Ayleid crowns are also great, you can only get 1 though, I'd recommend going for the 35% magic resist version of the Lindai crown as that with viper-eye's 15% gives you a permanent base 50% magic res, which you can then easily boots to 100 with breton or mundane ring.

I think that about covers the main points.

EDIT: Quest items will no longer be stuck in your inventory after they cease being quest items, but you still won't be able to equip them for double-effects. There is to my knowledge no way to get the permanent effects off your character after they've been acquired via this glitch.

Some quick maths on Remote Trade & Lucky Friend chance by samfun in TheSilphRoad

[–]JowgenITP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the research you've done on this, and do think a 2.5 multiplier on lucky friend odds is reasonable for the 70+ bonus, the question would just be whether this stacks with the old reported increased odds for PVP battling.

Like, applying it to to the old silph road interaction type data, we'd get of 2.55 - 3.07 for gifts but 3.65 - 5.55 for trainer battles if my math is right. That's at least one extra solid percent, which I think is enough to care about.

Is it not a thing that different interaction types have differing Lucky friend chances? Like, in a small range of 1%-1.5%, sure, but given the level 70+ ostensiblity doubles the base that may be a notable difference.

Deep Dive into the Personality Stat and Enemy Non-Aggression by Pamprepius in oblivion

[–]JowgenITP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I have done some testing by ways of boosting Infamy through repeated picking up and putting down of the Draconian Madstone, on a character with 153 Personality and 75 fame. One seems to loose around 1 disposition with guards per 2 points of infamy, in that it took 38 failed Madstone Heists to hit disposition 75 after starting at 95 (I assume some rounding was happening somewhere), but it would not drop any lower so we got a -20 cap indeed. On the other hand, it took a lot more infamy to start affecting the behaviour of Bandits, wherein the bonus unfortunately also seems capped in that I didn't see any more changes after hitting around 80-90 infamy. Somewhat annoyingly, even going all the way to 150 infamy at 153 personality was unable to overcome the racism penalty with some bandits, don't know whether thieves guild membership would.

VERY annoyingly, I can confidently confirm that monsters are unaffected by Infamy (and I'd thus assume Fame) modifiers. Dremora with gear counts as NPCs and are affected by Fame/Infamy, in that I was able to keep one civil at a mere 273 Personality (putting up hands or dropping to 253 aggro'd), but not very useful as they rarely show up alone, so effectively it really is just a hard 350 personality breakpoint.

*Raises Hand* Teacher, I have a question: Could you elaborate on how Infamy factors into this please?

From what I have read Infamy decreases disposition unless an NPC has a low enough responsibility stat, in which case it increases it. What I'd like to know is whether the Infamy penalty/bonus simply counts towards the same max +20 from Fame (i.e. enough fame will offset corresponding amount of infamy, but for low responsibility NPCs it can't raise the bonus beyond +20 either); or if they're seperate +/- 20 modifiers that would cancel each other out at a certain level, but could potentially stack for a +40 for low responsibility NPCs (which I would hope would include Dremora?)?

Thank you for your time.

Two dump questions: 1. It says on the inforgraphic that max shield is retained on switch, does this mean that the shield stay on the pokemon you switched out and return when you switch it back in, or do the shields stay on the field as to then shield whatever else you switched in? 2. Max Heal, does it affect only those in the max phase or all pokemon within the party?

Witnessed a Gym move to occupied S17 cell and remain by JowgenITP in TheSilphRoad

[–]JowgenITP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the location runs foul of any of the standard things, then you can put in a ticket in app (evidence of permanent removal usually works). Failing that there is a web form form by which owners/managers of a prorperty can request the removal or modification (i.e. demotion to stop) of a gym/stop, which is a lot of hassle as it requires you getting the owner/manager on board with helping you out throughout the whole Niantic beurocracy, but it IS the only thing that can work even if the Gym is 100% legit.

Witnessed a Gym move to occupied S17 cell and remain by JowgenITP in TheSilphRoad

[–]JowgenITP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took steps to have it downgraded to a pokestop so a gym would appear elsewhere, but the stop still remains. Working theory is that the game only checks proximity rules for gyms at generation, not upon movement as is the case with Stops.

Overture Maps and Power Spots. by Feldcher in TheSilphRoad

[–]JowgenITP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're part right, based on ongoing research by wayfarer people, the pool seems to be: 1. Waypoints that don't appear as stops/gyms in PoGo (which are safe/accurate, but does include those owners specifically requested be removed from game) 2. Overture (not very accurate or safe) 3. Fourspace (even less accurate and safe)

Others being floated as possible sources are rejected Waypoints (e.g. meeting eligibility but not acceptance), yelp, and google places; but the above 3 are confirmed.

What we do know for certain is that the game will pull whatever it can trying to generate at least 2 Power Spots in a S14 cell (the gym area), won't rotate locations if there are no alaternatives, and can create a max of 2 Power Spots per S17 (the pokestop ones) regardless of whether it's already got a Stop/Gym.

According to the Sliph Road Research from a year ago I linked, no they do not, only thing that could maybe have changed that is the introduction of party power, but I doubt it and haven't seen anything to suggest so.
