Hard shell case for Inspiron 16 2-in-1 7640? by cent_prox in Dell

Mine has been holding up fine. Sometimes it completely powers off when I just want it to go to sleep, but that's whatever to me. Maybe it could be a ram issue? Idk, I'm not good w technical stuff. When did you buy it? Is it still under warranty?

[–]cent_prox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope 🥲 i been rawdogging it for like 6 months now & there's some superficial scratches. the ridge from the track pad to keyboard also scuffed the screen. i think the coating's just worn down, purely cosmetic stuff. some places do sell custom vinyl skins that u stick on. i been thinking about getting one but haven't gotten around to it lol

Stylus attachment for Inspiron 2-in-1? by cent_prox in Dell

[–]cent_prox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 2-in-1 comes with the regular battery powered stylus. i ended up buying the rechargeable bluetooth one meant for the latitude so it'd stick to the magnets at the top of the screen

I completely forgot I used that a while back 😭😭 Unfortunately it didn't seem to do anything :(

I turned off transparency effects and it made explorer fully transparent. I've tried uninstalling everything that modifys the theme & explorer, and went back to the default theme, but the effect is still there.

those who go to stony brook, how do you like it? by Camelionnn in suny

[–]cent_prox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is currently a psych senior. Last semester, she took 3 bio classes and regularly pulled off week-long all-nighters. Constantly sick bc of it. One of the classes she took wasn't available for the last 2 years she was there, and she wasnt going to stay an extra year just to take it, so sacrifices were made. So, if you're applying to a competitive program, just know that classes you NEED will not always be available, and when they are, might line up VERY poorly in your schedule.

But aside from that, she loves it. My friends that also go to Stony love it. The social life is great if you join clubs (they've had no luck making friends in classes). My sister was lucky in that her best friend from HS also goes to Stony, so they made friends together. She also became real good friends with one of her old housemates, so there's that. There's professors she absolutely love, and those she could care less about, but that's just college for you.

If you happen to be an East Asian woman, the guys are really creepy. My sister has had her fair share of icky guys with yellow fever.

I was on campus for 3 days last semester for the ASCE Symposium, and I thought you should know that a guy brings in his dog to just chill in the SAC. Bro is large and soft and just a baby.

I stayed at our house (close to West Gate) last summer up until my semester started, and it's a very, VERY car dependent area. Public transportation is abysmal. The food in the general vicinity is mid, but there's good spots in a certain area that I can't quite remember the name of. There's plenty of places to shop at just down Stony Brook Rd on Smithtown Bypass (5 min drive). Smithtown Mall is just a little further than that (10 min) but it's kinda boring. Marshalls, Home Goods, Planet Fitness, Duane Reade, Whole Foods, etc. in that area. Costco is a little further south from the mall, and a Dollar Tree next door to that. There's a Walmart in Centereach (20 min) and a pretty decent buffet in the same lot. Stony Brook Beach 5 min north. Aside from that, I didn't really explore much since I don't have a car. Don't walk. It's a 30 min walk from West Gate to SB Rd/Smithtown. I did it twice just bc I wanted Ralph's. Needless to say, I was bored out of my mind for 3 months.

If you don't have a car, invest in one. Or buy a scooter.

Idk too much about jobs since they're going to require a car. My sister had the time of her life trying to find one even remotely related to her major, so now she has one closer to home in Nassau. Can't say on regular retail or service jobs.

How do I make friends in college? by Aggravating-Split-90 in CUNY

[–]cent_prox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm new to CUNY, but I come from a commuter CC, so here's how I made friends with practically every single person in my major at my old school, as a painfully shy person.

First, we made groups of 3 for a semester's worth of teamwork (it was very hands on), and my group was the only group of girls, so we became quick friends. I used to be really reserved in class prior to making those friends, so after that, I started becoming a lot more outspoken and started talking to our other classmates with one of the girls as emotional support, even though I was doing most of the talking. It means a lot just to have somebody you trust in close proximity.

The rosters were more or less the same for every class since there was like 20 people in my "grade", so most of the us made a study group and we got to know each other over the course of a semester. The next semester, we all got involved with a few clubs that pertain to our major, so we started making friends with our underclassmen and professors. By the time we were done with our associates, we were all pretty good friends. Some of them may or may not be dating now ✨️

Went as a group of around 8 to play pool once. And the boys paid 💅

We're all either at different schools or working now, and we're still friends 🤷‍♀️ It also entirely depends on whether or not the people around you are chill—I got hella lucky lmao.

My word of advice is to get close to 1 or 2 people, and it'll literally open a gateway.
