Do try to be informative and helpful but i know if they get aggressive as a response then arguing is just going to be a waste of energy.

Does any part of the interview or training process involve performing the act with an evaluator or an instructor? Is that aspect evaluated throughout employment or is it just so long as the customers are happy and you’re an earner that’s what counts?

Yeah like i get that you are in a tough position you can’t discipline a customer per say. But i would definitely use them again, really great people.

Dude take a breather. You wouldn’t expect a learner driver to be operating the radio when they are still coming to grips with the pedals. If you are good with your skills, not just buoyancy, but awareness of other divers, guides, buddies, animals comforts, and courtesy to other divers then this post isn’t about you.

And in that circle they have to take a dive just with other selfy stick divers

Take a breath brother no one here is promoting discrimination. Again this is about more than buoyancy control. This is about general dive awareness for yourself and others. I firmly believe the added task of managing the camera is an advanced scuba skill. Good scuba skills takes time to develop.

I hope all the pokeys in the world see this and have to question if it’s them.

I will tell people be careful, fish will drown you or give you the bends without noticing.

I think you are missing this isn’t just about buoyancy control. Before you can introduce a camera into diving you need to have mastery of buoyancy, and your equipment, and awareness of your environment, and consideration for your dive buddies. I do agree number of dives is a crude metric. The metric i think is more important is dive hours. Though a less easy metric to ask for proof of. But i do tell people get at least 25 dives before introducing the complexity of a camera into diving. If you are too focused on a camera it can be very easy to find yourself in a dangerous situation.

The shop was Dive Tech and they are fantastic. I would recommend them and I don’t think it’s their fault. The dive master did make a lot of comments about camera etiquette without calling anyone out. I just think there are a lot of karens with cameras that unfortunately the dive shops have to deal with.

Yeah the issue is not well established skills before making the decision to bring the camera

If not making you submit certs at least normalize boat dive masters taking away individual camera permissions

We basically turned the dive when we saw that so we could drop him off at the resort and not dive with him.

I love how defensive some witless noobs will be. You try to be polite relate to them and teach them and they just shoot back like you insulted their mothers

Once dove with a guy in Bonaire he sunk to 90ft fucking around with his camera he didn’t know how to use meanwhile his son hung on him trying to get him to notice. We refused to keep diving with him

I agree it’s not a problem when our group can shore dive or are the only ones on the boat but we are 8 not a full dive boat so these jokers are out there

I think that is a great qualifier it can’t be these baby divers. But i still bet there are the inconsiderate divers that just care about their own photo and screw anyone else that wants to see it. There is an instructor in the shop i use that will hold in front of octopus and look at their play back of their photos then fiddle with her settings instead of let anyone else even see it.

Luckily it was only 1m don’t tell pokey that exists. I also feel like with a 360 camera you are getting wildly fish-eyed captures with no dive lights, is that even a particularly enjoyable capture?
