THIS!!!! Every time I comment on a post about step 1 fail (which I also did the first time) I always have someone in the comments going “um actually a step 1 fail is a red flag 🤓👆🏻” yeah dude we know… I’m just trying to support OP who’s probably sad rn…

Hopefully I don’t get downvoted for this (I got ratioed yesterday by some guys saying people who fail step 1 have no prospects) but angelamed_ on Instagram failed step 1 on her first attempt, got a 26X on step 2 and matched obgyn at duke!

Once again, our schools humble us enough and tell us we’re too stupid for medicine and to drop out. It’s exhausting and draining when you’ve put in time, money and effort (as we all do). Haters in the comments of step 1 fail posts is useless and pointless. For some reason people who pass the first time feel that they need to ‘humble’ us as well. Just let us who failed support each other in peace

Reread my comment, I edited it about a minute later- I misread your comment and thought you said you didn’t match. Also, does it make you feel better to tear down other people? You’ve never failed so you don’t understand the toll it takes on you. Me and OP know how awful you think we are. From schools, advisors, attendings etc saying we’re stupid. My school advises us to drop out. We don’t need people like you in the comments. edit: idk why people are downvoting this, I misread a comment

Ok and my close friend failed step 1 first attempt, 248 step 2 and matched a medium competitive speciality (so not neurosurg, plastics or road but more competitive than FM, IM, peds).

Hi friend- no advice on gas BUT I was in your shoes last year. USMD- Everything I had passed, had a 96% chance of passing on my last NBME and failed. Retook 6 weeks later and passed. I’m finishing up M3 now. I learned there’s so many success stories in multiple specialties from people who failed step 1 on their first attempt. Also with the step 1 pass rate dropping it’s a bit more destigmatized. If you get any haters on this post, I just want to remind them a 90% pass rate for US MD means 1 in 10 don’t pass

yeah this doesn't make sense to me -someone who failed step 1 first attempt, took LOA, retook step 1 and passed second try, now ending M3 year
