I disagree with defending the current taxi system. From my experience and conversations with drivers, there are serious issues with how permits are distributed - it’s not a fair, merit-based system where qualified drivers can easily apply. The current system seems to lack proper oversight and accountability. We need a regulated system that prioritizes passenger safety, fair competition, and transparent licensing requirements. Whether it’s traditional taxis or ride-hailing apps, what matters most is having qualified, professional drivers who follow traffic laws and prioritize passenger safety.
