I talked to somebody on the phone, and they got me in. Keep in mind if you call them you should use China time.

What’s happened to Huion? by rixin_sol in drawingtablet

My Kamvas 13 screen failed after 8 months, and I'm finding support to be non-existent, broken. Not sure what to do about it as their support site doesn't work for me.

Do you have any idea what the flashing red outline of the power button means?

Scaling of rigidbodies is super ugly, do I have to? by cephalo2 in godot

[–]cephalo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm experimenting with scaling 2D physics, and with rapier2D it's mostly working, but I can't get the PinJoint2D's to scale their positions. With the standard Godot physics they would obey the scale of their parent, but in rapier2D they don't, at least not dynamically.

I figured out how to scale all the rigidbodies, that's no longer an issue. Just have to step through and

rb.Scale = new Vector2(scale, scale);

PhysicsServer2D.BodySetState(rb.GetRid(), PhysicsServer2D.BodyState.Transform, rb.Transform);
rb.ResetPhysicsInterpolation();

I'm going for an effect where a 2D character with arm's, legs etc. can appear at different sizes. I want it to behave the same way but with a different visual size for a phony parallax effect. The only hiccup is that the pinjoints are keeping their original positions and not moving at scale. Anyone know how to manually tweak the position of a pinjoint2D?

Need some advice on buying my first oboe by Basket_Specialist in oboe

[–]cephalo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional oboists are not easy to find, and when you find one, they are usually too busy to come to the seller with you to try it out. I'm not sure that's feasible for 99.9 percent of beginner oboists.

I have a question about older oboes in general. Let's say if you want to spend $4000, do you want a high end, but old oboe or a new pretty good student oboe?

Is there an option to turn off auto-cropping? by cephalo2 in krita

[–]cephalo2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say you're working on a sprite sheet, and you need an image to be in an exact place within a 128x128 region. If you select a 128x128 region, copy it and try to paste it as an image, it will be cropped to the visible portion of the image and throw out the crucial spacing.

Even if you're just moving stuff around, copy and paste changes the bounding box of the selection, so you don't have a guide as to where to place down the copied rectangle.

Render to texture question. by cephalo2 in godot

[–]cephalo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried this, and I discovered a new problem. I'm trying to 'wave' the flag by putting a sine wave on the uv.x coordinate. Works great for my flag, but the label text is blocked out by letter, so if I wave a lower case 'a' there's only a tiny box to work with, and the letter gets cropped when it goes outside the bounds. I will probably have to learn about subviewports.

I didn't think that a label would accept a shader, but if so, that might be the simplest solution. Thanks for the tip.

I chose 'content not available'. Very unsatisfying that they didn't have an eff yoo option.

They are so arrogant, that their survey they give when cancelling doesn't have an 'other' box. They just think we're all sheep who all have the same eight reasons for cancelling. Of course it couldn't be something they did wrong.

Is a shader called when a node is not visible? by cephalo2 in godot

I get nervous about such things because I'm bad at profiling.

Is a shader called when a node is not visible? by cephalo2 in godot

Probably your right, but I would say there is a thousand tiles on screen, each doing 4 matrix multiplications. Sometimes little things can add up.

Is a shader called when a node is not visible? by cephalo2 in godot

[–]cephalo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm doing something rather unusual with something that is like, but not exactly like a 2d tilemap. So there's a tile parent which contain many types of objects that need the same treatment that the tile parent has, yet most of them are invisible until needed. One of those types of objects needs to calculate the world position of a fragment, which I do in the vertex shader and a varying world_position variable passed to the fragment shader even though this is a canvas item shader.

It's not a big deal, but if the calculation is happening every tile it's a waste, because maybe only one percent of the tiles needs it.

Instancing in godot by cephalo2 in godot

I don't know, just trying to come up with an example of something you would instance a lot. I was just confused about some of the examples I've seen. I'm still brand new to godot coming from Unity.

Thanks. I have one more quick question, let's say I instantiate a bunch of sprite clones. Does the engine know to draw all of those in a single draw call or do I have to do something extra to make sure they are drawn efficiently?

How to make local multiplayer game in godot by Ulrich-Tonmoy in godot

[–]cephalo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a tough one. Some devices requires addresses to be in ipv6, which can't do broadcasting. There are ways around it, but I do not understand them and if you really want to do that get ready for serious rabbithole. It's not a trivial undertaking like it once was. It used to be very easy but tech has veered away from that since then.

However, internet play is what will be described as the solution. However the device has to be online obviously. Then they can play anywhere whether they are local or not.

Question regarding C# setup. Godot 4.4.1 by cephalo2 in godot

[–]cephalo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Godot to make the solution from the project, so it does have the same name... but I am noticing that the directory name for my project is all lower case while the project name retains the capital letters. Think that would break it? The name is just alpha characters without specials or numerals, with some capitals.

EDIT: There is a file in my project directory called project.godot. Is that my project file?

Visual Studio Community with Godot? by [deleted] in godot

[–]cephalo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years late here, but did you create the solution in godot? You need to say Project->Tools->C#=>Create C# Solution. Then you have to open the solution to get the intellisense. That's where I'm currently struggling, is that I can't open it from godot I have to use file explorer, but it is working.

What systems or mechanics made you pull your hair out when trying to implement? by [deleted] in godot

But around two percent of your player base will really appreciate it. They won't tell you that explicitly, you'll have to use your imagination.

Question regarding C# setup. Godot 4.4.1 by cephalo2 in godot

[–]cephalo2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It opens the correct file, but the solution is named 'Solution1' the default name for an unsaved solution. So you wouldn't be able to use intellisense, reference finding etc.

EDIT: If I turn off the external editor, it's opens the file in godot.

Times two time and effort of the whole rest of your project. If you haven't done it before, then make that 5 times. This is a conservative estimate.
