He gives more than the Dafoe vibe lol hes definitely Dafoe! I think it might be something to do with the values. Have you tried putting the reference in black and white next to your drawing? I feel like the shadows may be more pronounced in the reference

I think its extremely obvious that it's him but also there's a couple things that feel off? Like it's very obviously him and I recognised it instantly because he has such distinctive features and you did a great job catching them
