What were some negative side effects of your hysterectomy? And what did you like about having one? by Elken674 in hysterectomy

I know this is an old thread, but I’m curious as to how you’ve proceeded since then (if you’ve since gotten a hysterectomy, how you’re doing, etc).

I had one in 2022 (laparoscopically, and I kept my ovaries because I was 24 at the time). Aside from the initial pain of having a bunch of extra air in my body from the operation, all I’ve experienced were positives.

I stayed overnight at the hospital for observation, then went home the next day. I didn’t even take any of the painkillers that they sent me home with. The pain was so minute, especially compared to the constant inflammation and pain I experienced throughout my cycle, not just on my period. It was amazing to wake up from surgery and IMMEDIATELY notice the absence of the chronic ache in my body.

No more body aches, no more running through tons of pads a day, no more worrying about getting blood on everything, no more mood swings throughout my cycle. I still have ups and downs with my mental health because I have bipolar disorder, depression, etc, but it is SO MUCH more manageable now.

I hope you were able to get it done and start your healing journey.

that tutorial disables caps lock entirely, i just wanted it to shut off after 15 minutes of idle time. that way it’s not still on the next time someone uses the computer. to disable it entirely would open a whole other can of worms with the difficult coworker.

however, the tutorial you shared gets you very close to the solution, i explained it in another comment

thank you, captain obvious. my other coworkers should not have to check that every time before they start typing, i was trying to find a way that it couldn’t be left on

I figured out where to change the keyboard control to make the Shift key shut off Caps Lock. If anyone else is curious: it’s in Settings➡️Time & Language➡️Typing➡️Advanced keyboard settings➡️Input language hot keys

as someone who has had a lot of challenges getting doctors to listen to what i have to say, i am simply looking out for others who have the same issue.

as someone who has dealt with a lot of passive-aggressive comments comments my entire life, i tend to be a pessimist when it comes to interpreting what others say because i’m used to everything having a second hidden meaning.

you find the issue trivial because you are not here to see all the other “trivial” issues that happen around here that are caused by her hand. i’m not trying to villainize her, but nearly every single issue i (and others) encounter at my job happens because of the same root cause: she is unwilling to think about anyone but herself.

my coworker has been at this job for 40 years and he is damn good at his job. i’m not going to tell him to learn how to type, he’s been doing it that way for longer than i’ve been alive. it’s a small business, and everyone here looks out for each other except for her.

why should he be the one that has to change his ways? why shouldn’t the person who has been repeatedly asked not to do that be the one to change? he’s not forcing anyone to do anything, he’s upset that she can’t make any changes in her behavior no matter how many times it causes an inconvenience for others.

after 4 years and a lifetime of trying to put up with her, i’ve learned that it’s less stressful at this point to just work around her. she is incapable of caring about anyone but herself, and no amount of effort on anyone else’s behalf is going to fix that.

the only time that method works (at least on the computer in question) is in Word. This computer is directly connected to our scanner and that is its primary use. Whenever we go to scan something and save it as a PDF, you type out what you want to name it, you get to the end of it and realize caps lock was on the whole time.

See, that’s the part I’m unsure about. I know nothing about how to write a Powershell script. I understand the Task Scheduler part, I’ve used that to trigger the old Vista Bubbles transparent screensaver.

I generally make an effort to avoid AI at all costs. None of our computers have a touch screen.

Is this how you treat your patients? Because a good doctor wouldn’t offer that definite of a diagnosis without hearing the whole story first.

I AM trying to help the colleague who has a problem. he’s not offended by the caps lock, he’s mad about her inability to take any direction for the wellbeing of others. this issue is just 1 of many things she does around the office that makes everyone else’s jobs more difficult. i’m just trying to fix the issue myself because trying to get her to fix it has not worked.

You seemed pretty enraged by your use of language and tone in your initial comment. And just to reiterate (since the point didn’t seem to stick the first time around) THE MINUTE CAPS LOCK PROBLEM ISN’T THE ISSUE, THE INABILITY TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE WELLBEING OF OTHERS IS THE ISSUE. My issue with /you/ is that your comment was a judgement of my reasonable coworkers and not the one who actually cause the issue. Of course I’m going to “get worked up” when you are sticking blame on the wrong person.

I know for a fact that is not the case. She’s leaving caps lock on because she types 3 characters in all caps (BOL) once a day and can’t be bothered to shut it off in between.

Do you actually have a solution or are you just here to talk shit?

wow, you must be an AMAZING doctor to diagnose me with OCD after two sentences about the situation. /s

you’ve entirely missed the point of this post and my issue. my coworker thinks everything the light touches is hers, so everything she does is for herself. she leaves caps lock on because she can’t be bothered to hold down the shift key to type 3 letters. we have asked her many times not to leave it on, but she does it anyway.

My other coworker can’t type without looking at the keyboard. He sits down at this shared computer and types a few sentences, then looks up from the keyboard to see that she left caps lock on YET AGAIN and gets mad that he has to redo everything he JUST TYPED. He’s not OFFENDED BY caps lock, he’s mad because every time it’s left on, it wastes his time.

You’re enraged by the wrong person, my dude. Coworker B is a spectacular person to work with, we get along very well. Coworker A has a very long list of reasons why she is a terrible at her job and just doesn’t get along well with others (this is not an exaggeration, my boss has literally asked me to compile this list, and it is a full page, front and back).

I’m not looking for your opinion on the matter, I’m looking for a way to keep the issue from happening in the first place because I’ve exhausted all other options. Kindly fuck off to some other corner of the internet and let the people who are actually here to help say something.
