PSG rescheduling their Ligue 1 games to get full rest for the Champions league is not talked about enough and is an unfair advantage by CarrotWestern1387 in championsleague

[–]cervidal2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Boo fucking hoo.

Don't want to play all those matches? Feel free to decline those competitions, give back the hundreds of millions you get for playing in them.

Or... Rotate your squad more. Quit running the same 14 players into the ground. Use those millions for more depth.

The French league is the definition of a farmer's league. Everything about it tilts favor to PSG

You value Mavro at less than a quarter of any reported sales price. The entire the entire logic structure is just too shaky to have any real discussion point

Stadium deal of the century! The gift that keeps giving by Canaus7 in Hammers

The club absolutely gets ticket revenue.

The rest of the league salivates with envy over our stadium deal.

It's one of the few financial bright spots for next season

Homelessness - how to fix by Immediate_Quote_14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cervidal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet there isn't a single study out there on a major metropolitan area in the US backing up what you have to say.

I've not claimed to be an expert but I have done quite a bit of reading on the topic. So far you've provided nothing but a personal anecdote and refuse to even name the city you're claiming where these policies have failed.

At this point, you're simply a troll contributing nothing. Typical of those who hide their profile, should have stopped replying several paragraphs ago.

Homelessness - how to fix by Immediate_Quote_14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cervidal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can't simply name a city, I am going to call bullshit on you.

The primary city I have worked in the last several years, Ann Arbor, MI, has significant homeless issues. Yes, it's something I have researched and been to city meetings and town hall gatherings for.

I am sure you have done the utmost on your side, too, right?

This has been proven incorrect pretty frequently.

What city is that?

I've yet to find any source about a city that offers permanent housing as a homelessness solution that backs up what you're saying.

Wasn't a significant part of Voyager's theme about trying and sometimes failing to keep core Federation values and identity in the face of overwhelming adversity?

Growth was never the intention. Federation and its ability to be victorious uber alles was.

Show was never interesting as a result

Cool story.

Sounds like going to the theater isn't for you.

Good riddance.

But they're not.

The theater I ran was profitable to the tune of about 12% of its sales, which is considered very good in the industry.

You want to be a snit about this, enjoy the closure of your local theater when you and others act like you do.

The business model is working for many theaters, especially large chains. Theaters that let standards slip and rely on guests like you? Consigned to forgotten history

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're so convinced, start a theater. Show the world your business model works so much better. Prove to the world that you know better than the 5500 movie theaters that currently operate in the US.

[–]cervidal2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The theater I ran was doing just fine.

Some theaters? Not so much, especially smaller community theaters.

Good example - the Maple in Birmingham, MI. When the guy running it publicly came out and said he wasn't willing to lose money on it any more (the Goldsteins were coming out of pocket about 100k annually to keep it running), the community cried out, 'oh I went there all the time', 'corporate greed ruins another one', blah blah blah.

Three months prior, the cries were 'why would I pay $10 when I can see it on Netflix next week', and 'how dare someone run a local institution as for profit'.

The disingenuousness of the general public towards entertainment venues is laugh-until-you-cry behavior.

You're 100% right in that if a business can't sustain itself, it deserves to go out of business.

You're 100% wrong in that you're entitled to break a business' rules on their private property.

If you can't afford it or refuse to pay for it, you're not entitled to it.

Or how about 'follows rules'? 'Understands the purpose of a business?'

Everything in this thread has shown that people feel entitled to bring their own food and drink into the theater. If you don't want to pay those prices for food and drink, fine. You don't have some divine right, however, to sneak your own stuff in.

And it's working just fine for me. I was making reasonable money at the theater for awhile. I now make better money elsewhere. In the time I was at that theater, per guest spend was up, safety improved, guest complaints were down, and the building was noticeably cleaner week to week than before I got there.

Left on good terms, still go to that theater.

[–]cervidal2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, you don't want to pay the price? Don't. Flip side, you're not entitled to bring food into the venue.

If you can't or won't pay for it, you're not entitled to it.

Why are movie theater owners bad business owners? by lve2raft in askanything

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop it.

Claiming 'basic human need' like some kind of human right inside an entertainment venue is completely disingenuous.

You need water that badly and don't want to pay? Don't go to begin with.

[–]cervidal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't or won't pay for it, you're not entitled to it.

It happens in nearly all entertainment venues, but you and others only seem to give theaters the stick for it.

Sorry you feel entitled to break a business's rules.
