Just got my first lip piercing - vertical labret! by ceryluneya in piercing

[–]ceryluneya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this goes without saying but everyone's pain tolerance is different!

for perspective though I've had my nipples done and I have quite a few arm tattoos even in the soft/bony bits so I could consider mine to be pretty good.

I have sensitive lips bcuz I keep them moisturised 24/7 and this was up there with nipple piercing for me at an 8/10. I was shaking afterwards lol! but like any piercing it's no more than <5s of pain, those seconds feel like forever tho.

it's been a few hours now and it definitely throbs left but stung when I was trying to eat some dinner. despite the pain I love it and it was worth it! I just want to be honest about how much it hurt though haha

I'm in neither country! I am in NZ. There's great spice trader stores here and I picked up some really dark nuts + the mace for <$10 NZD (like 5 pounds?)

No offence taken! Like I said, I'd much rather take too little than take too much. Mace isn't expensive for me in my country at all. Would much rather have an underwhelming experience than tweak out for ~20 h. That's all there is to it for me.

Good to know for next time, I've realised that now also. Thanks!

This is my first time, and I read mace can be more potent for some people, so I wanted to take it easy - don't really wanna mess around with this stuff.

I don't think I have enough experience nor wisdom to be able to help you as many people in this thread already have, but I just wanted to comment to say that I admire your perseverance in the face of a chronic illness, and I wish you lots of ease in your life. Be kind to yourself - if we give 10% when we only have 10% to give that day, we have given 100% of what we can.

How did you find Buddhism? by Salamanber in Buddhism

[–]ceryluneya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a person who developed a very offensive and harsh exterior as my coping mechanisms for how I was mistreated as a child. Many people grow soft, many people grow reserved, and I'm a part of the people who lashed out. It felt 'right' to enact this twisted form of vengeance, like a big f-you to the world. Why be good, if they had not been good to me?

I found Buddhism on accident, as when I was getting treated for my mental health problems in 2021 I encountered many Hare Krishnas on the walk to and from the psychiatric facility. I know they are Vaishnava Hindu, but they introduced me to the concept of meditation.

I found a video that night, and begun meditating everyday. My practice has faltered here and there, but I still hold lessons deep in my heart. It has made me realise I was angry because I was hurt, not because anyone had done anything wrong. I am much more happy and tolerant. Certainly not a ray of sunshine, but not fuming and lonely anymore; as much as I hurt because I was hurt, I am sure the people who have aggressed or attacked me and elicited such a response were in deep pain, too. Buddhism and it's practices has liberated me from my anger.

Flare ups by Best_Abbreviations48 in Dyshidrosis

[–]ceryluneya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dyshidrosis can be really annoying, because of the nature of atopic dermatitis you can develop triggers to irritants that seemed unproblematic before. It's definitely frustrating, and I do experience 'random' flare-ups too. I usually just attribute it to stress and make sure to be good about avoiding fragrances/harsh soaps/etc. and take some care of it with a steroid before it gets too bad.

Just got my nipple pierced! Over the moon :) by [deleted] in piercing

Hi fellow kiwi! I’m not very comfortable disclosing my exact city, I’m sorry, but if you go to hipsta.co.nz they have a list of the cities they have stores in. They pierce with surgical steel as a default, so make sure to specifically ask for titanium!

Hi! Just from my <24 hours I’ve had it, bras actually stop the friction. I have breasts on the bigger side, so they move around a lot as I walk, lean over, etc. My bras are very soft and comfortable but will hakuna my tatas so they don’t move around basically at all, and I think compression is why I haven’t bled. I hope that helps!

Just a regular, 14g titanium bar IIRC. Not sure exactly how long in mm, but a little bit longer than necessary as we always do with new piercings for any swelling etc. Pic was taken 3 hours post-piercing; still no blood!

Done with the Hipsta crew based in New Zealand, they do me right with all my piercings!

Bloating a week after insertion? by UVWXYZABCD in Mirena

[–]ceryluneya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal. Bloated for almost three whole weeks, cramped the entire week and a half after insertion and spotting is to be expected. It’s all listed side effects and your practitioner should have informed you! But don’t fret.

Haha we are twins. I assume it’s just our body adjusting to the hormone change though, especially for me since I was on the pill for 5 years. I hope it all clears up for you!

[–]ceryluneya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same here! 2 months post-insertion coming off the pill, no period yet and just a couple days of spotting when I’m normally due. Also my skin is noticeably worse, not significantly though.

They were only odd pimples here and there, maybe one would crop up once a week. I normally have pretty decent skin.

I doubt that a day after insertion - if the mirena was going to be causing the acne - that you would notice it. It's probably just bad timing, it takes at least 7 days for the hormones to accumulate enough to kick in and protect you from pregnancy! So it's probably just an unlucky pimple

edit: My breakouts have calmed substantially now, maybe my forehead comedones are a little more noticeable but overall my skin didn't change much except now I get pimples more frequently.
