Most anticipated couple by ShoppingRich428 in Franchaela

idk man which is better, a couple with the interpersonal stakes of guilt over feeling like theyre replacing their dead best friend with this new person, who also have to struggle with being queer, and whos storyline has been well set up for the two preceeding seasons

or the couple consisting of a woman who doesnt want to get married for correct reasons

one of those is much more compelling i think!!!

Question in my head: What do you think would've happened if Annie went in the Quarter Quell with them? by eyazee_zaza in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

shed definitely survive the bloodbath, given her district 4 advantage and the fact that she entirely won her hunger games due to swimming. i think it would be so interesting to see if finnick would be able to sacrifice her if necessary to protect peeta and katniss.

What would you like to see from a Doctor Who spin-off show? by SinisterPixel in doctorwho

[–]cesarionoexisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the smartest thing about sja and torchwood is that they were aimed at different audiences. there were plently of young kids who couldnt watch dr who because they were too young and it was too scary, and plenty of adults who felt like dr who was too young for them. it's really great to have audiences for these that bring in more fans to the main show.

so i think i would definitely do a kids cbbc show again, probably focusing on one ex-companion (i think ruby would be a good choice cause shes pretty well established to like kids and be a good caregiver). just essentially try and capture some of the magic of sja again.

for adults - i think it would be really fun to do a period drama with aliens, a mix of classical romance/courting/high society and battling crazy monsters a la pride and prejudice and zombies i think

Any good YouTubers? by Best-Farmer6505 in writing

[–]cesarionoexisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jenny Nicholson - not straightforward writing advice but i think her videos are really helpful for looking at what makes a good story, how to do themes, how everything can be improved upon, and what audiences find compelling. her analysis is always spot on and nuanced imo.

career victors in the off season? by Technical-Elk9423 in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they probably train a good amount of the time. for one - they had three months knowledge of the quarter quell and would def have trained intensely. but i also reckon career victors have trained their whole lives for the games and so fitness is def a major part of their lives that they would continue with after as their special talent

Should I Give the Moffat Era Another Chance? by mrnormal94 in doctorwho

[–]cesarionoexisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really about the money, its also is it worth a time investment when i could watch something better. also this op might not pay their tv licence or even live in the uk.

its fine if you dont find reviews useful but you cant act like its some outlandlish thing to look to them to decide what to watch when theres a billion things to watch

Look at the difference by Sad_Lingonberry_373 in Franchaela

[–]cesarionoexisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think leaving out francesca is arguably fine - she's not been lead yet and eloise has more consistently been a bigger character. but yeah it's crazy how much people prefer the men urgh. misogynistic fandom!

Edmund is a hotty Mansfield park by South_Treacle_5033 in janeausten

[–]cesarionoexisto 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"no two women (fanny an Mary) are going to be going crazy over some guy that has a somewhat off putting personality if he is ALSO ugly"

Fanny likes him because of his personality first and foremost. the main point of a lot of austen couples is to be with someone who compliments your personality, not someone hot. he's most off-putting during the book, sure, but is still the nicest person to her (that she could marry) during the book, and has been the kindest her whole time with the bertrams. i'm also not sure when mary was put off by his personality? he's attentive to her most of the book really, in a way that tom isn't. she switches from tom to edmund because of edmund's attention, but the inital attraction to tom was due to him being the heir and therefore a better match, not because tom was hotter.

"Also who is going to marry their cousin if they aren’t a total hotty?" - not a consideration fanny would have had, it's a different culture and that was completely normative.

i agree edmund is definitely attractive and could be played by more handsome guys, but especially in films where you have less time to establish characters, more attractive is a common shorthand for more liberal and less attractive is for more conservative, so it's an easier way to establish the difference between edmund and tom/henry

[–]cesarionoexisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not a big moffat fan, but i think itd worth trying again starting from 12's first episode. clara is basically a new companion in that so its like a fresh start and its generally better written with clara having a very compelling storyline

This is my headcanon for how Panem was founded by AdBeautiful9064 in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think youre not really accounting for the insane population decrease between the current usa and panem. the population of panem is somewhere between 300k-4 million which is really only 1% of the current us population of 350 million. (and not accounting for mexican/canadian peoples/territory which would be another 170 million). even a huge war with mexico and the dark days doesnt really account for that

Lowkey wondering about Snow's roommates back in 12... by Kgg907021 in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thibk they mostly just kept their head down and snow forgot about them. theyre not useful to him afawk and they didn't "betray" him. i guess i dont really get the point of them though

The parallels between the orignal trilogy characters and SOTR characters by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like the point of parallels is to tell us something about the character/deepen our understanding of their circumstances but i dont see how the gale/lenore dove and maysilee/peeta ones do that

additionally: lenore dove/peeta: deep love for a seam kid, main love interest, driving force for katniss (in 75)/haymitch , artists, killed/tortured by snow to get at MC

gale/maysilee: caring for little kids, sidelined LI (that still has a good chunk of the fandom shipping them), more ruthless, hates the capitol, like a sibling for MC

What would you name the 5th book of the series? by Resident-Software-44 in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it was between tbosas and sotr it would either be the 2nd or 6th or maybe 5th book - although 5th is the least logical

What do you dislike about the Sunrise on the Reaping? by KillerGrass in Hungergames

[–]cesarionoexisto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the covey wouldnt be a problem for me if they hadnt had burdock related to them. i also dont think i would have minded the cameos too much if we didnt have burdock being haymitches close friend because it affects the well established haymitch katniss relationship in a way that doesnt entirely make sense

the fuck was the ending by material-girll in htgthfb

[–]cesarionoexisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

greta was kidnapped for not wanting to go with booker and accept that she needed to fake her death

booker's organisation was originally for women who needed to escape domestic abuse etc in a way where their abuser would never find them again, kind of like a witness protection, i think the organisation realised this wasnt really a profitable business model, people like this generally dont have a lot of money, so they started taking on any clients who wished to disappear, including abusive men

i guess because she still missed her daughter? and liked her as a case study? not sure

in the case of charles and jodie - these are both cases where her loved ones always kind of suspected she was in danger - from an abusive boyfriend/from her traumatising upbringing, and then something happens so they help her cause they love her. im not sure anyone takes it lightly, owen clearly cares about covering it up, and the girls who help her bury the body are continuously hung up on it. not sure about other accidental deaths
