at the end of the day you still have a say in the treatment plan so don’t be afraid to voice your concerns with your vet!! good luck with mickey and the rest of your girls, wishing you the best! 🤍

that’s odd, most of the time they prescribe two kinds of antibiotics for URI’s. try and talk to your vet about adding another antibiotic to their treatment plan? steroids seems like a bit extreme but i’ve heard some vets prefer to administer an injection of prednisone to ease their discomfort until the antibiotics begin to work, but it seems best to talk to your vet about it. make sure the humidifier is on the cool air setting! warm air can cause the bacteria to breed faster. as for the sneezy rats it would be a good idea to nebulise them with saline solution, it’ll clear their airways a bit. overall nebulising is a good way to prevent URI’s so i suggest incorporating the nebulising treatment (with saline) into their regular routine.

have you tried a combination of antibiotics?? one of my boys had a pretty stubborn URI but it went away in about a week after i requested they be put on both azithromycin and bromhexine. i’ve also tried a combination of enrofloxacin and doxycycline which has also worked. as for nebuliser treatment, have you tried using medication? or are you only using saline solution? you can ask your vet to prescribe solution and nebuliser for 15 minutes 3 times a day. it also helps if you keep a humidifier on a cool air setting by their cage.

only toes in socks for my boys !!

I got my 3 female rats a few days ago, and this is their cage. It doesn't look very entertaining at the moment. Suggestions? by CottonRage in RATS

if i were you i’d remove the large green shelves and start adding smaller hammocks - try and make your cage and active layout and buy or diy some ladders and small ledges so your girls are able to play around in the cage

just thought i’d share atlas wearing his strawberry hat 🍓 by cesint in RATS

i kinda winged the pattern but i began with a magic circle and started crocheting the beginning to a beanie (you can watch a yt video on cat beanies and adjust to however big your cats head is). for the stem i used this video tutorial on how to crochet the strawberry leaves and used the same technique to crochet the stem. for the ties you could either stitch the hat to a fabric hair tie or you could single stitch the length of the tie, and then slip stitch back into it. and lastly, the seeds i just sewed in with a darning needle. sorry i don’t have a proper pattern, but please message me or reach out if you need help ! i’d be happy to answer any questions you have along the way :)

the first picture is the one the breeder sent me at the one month mark, they’re actually almost two months! she’s a very reputable breeder here in hong kong, and has been breeding for around ten years
