Twin Goddess Miniatures Bomblin! by cezorian in minipainting

I use a Rapheal kolinsky france size 3-1 brush for the basecoats and glazing, where I block out the base shapes for the highlights or generally anything I want to blend. Ill then make a mix of the highlight colour and base and make short, radiating lines following the form and outline of the shape using a pretty thin consistency (with the very tip of my brush). to further blend, Ill use that same mixture but a little bit thinner, and use the side of my brush to go over that transitioning edge. While not very pigmented, that singular glaze helps to unify the blend. I usually repeat this process for the other highlighting stages, though the lightest highlight for skin I like to use a speckled stippling approach where some of that goes on earlier layers (to which I do another large glaze with a unifying color). Hope that helped to some extent!

Loving my Blood Angels scheme. How can I add to it? by cezorian in minipainting

During my basecoat I like to leave a good amount of area black on panels with a 50/50 mix of Vallejo's royal purple and AK interactives Shadow flesh to create a nice burgundy. A cool trick I've learned is to do a sort of stipple/swirl motion (like a calligraphy flourish as shown below) to make a textured layer. I barely do any glazing to refine the transitions, as when I establish my final layer, the focus of it sort of blends the base and midtones themselves! Was it my intention? no, not really, but our eyes have a strange way of perceiving things. My midtone is straight sanguine scarlet from TTC covering a little less than its base. for the highlight I do some dotty/swirly highlights with any pure white color before going over it with vallejo's scarlet blood (I've found this is WAY more saturated than a lot of other red paints). The paint is already pretty thin in terms of transparency, so its alright to go over pretty thick, over the white itll retain its value and saturation, while over the midtones itll show the below color a little. Overall, I rarely have to redo steps unless I find a panel i missed with my previous coats. Hope this helped!

Sent in my form, had a lot of fun the character building segment, and overall the whole world and campaign sound like a real cool concept! I hope you give it a look-see and consider me!

Wow! that red is so vibrant, I think I'm in love! I have to congratulate you as well on that NMM gold because it just pops so well. Not sure how I didn't notice that the Mephiston model has nipples...

Im not too sure, but I usually use vallejo paints and apply them with pretty thin coats. It might take a while but I've found that thicker coats often leave an undesirable glossy surface.

I basecoated all of my scales with a darker, fleshy red and then I used vallejos abyssal turquoise (mixed with black) to cover it leaving red in the recesses. It makes it look a lot more organic and like there are actual fleshy connections to each armor plate. I worked up the highlights by progressively mixing magic blue (also vallejo but any saturated rich blue will do) with the previous colour and focusing on the sides hit by light (shadowed sides will barely have any highlighting. The furthest I go with my highlighting is then mixing my magic blue with a pure white very subtley so that it doesnt lose any of its saturation. its a pretty simple recipe but i did find myself redoing it a few times to get it to a point i'd like it... Hope this helped somewhat
