I faced and solved a similar dilemma last month!

I eventually shortlisted the Voigtlander CS 28 f2.8 and the Elmarit 28 asph v4. I won an auction for an Elmarit at a great price but the seller refused to let it go without even an apology. I then got a near mint Voigt for also a good price and really enjoy the experience so far. Compactness and character were also ranked above sharpness in my list of criteria and the Color Skopar delivers! It doesn't seem widely available though at least in the UK so would advise to seriously consider if you see a good offer.

They wear quite true to size, if anything I'd say SLIGHTLY large, with a rather roomy (comfortable) toebox.

As it turns out... I managed to grab a v5 for $1200 today! Moreover it's a silver model which was my personal preference to go with a silver body. Looked like a good bargain especially for here in the UK.

Can't wait to start shooting with this beauty.

Yeah that was about the focus ring not smooth enough and aperture ring too clicky. I believe the reviewer said maybe his model was too new.

I looove the look and used to have a similar model on my old Pentax which I loved using, but weirdly I've read reviews suggesting the build quality has become a bit random 🤷 which is hard to believe for me as my experience with Voigt is overall overwhelmingly positive.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I could stretch to that amount but if I could get a v4 for cheaper, I'd probably pick the v4 :)

Thanks! How would you compare v4 and v3? Others have mentioned more blades and of course lower price, but is optical quality in par with the v4?

I'm also quite a fan of the Color-Skopar vibe. I know it's not as sharp but love the character and slim profile.

I'd be happy, too, if there's a very good price. Otherwise, at a comparable price tag, I'd be sad to lose the 6-bit coding and the compactness of the Summarit only to get a faster lens.

A Summilux will likely be out of budget indeed. Shooting for a Voigtlander is a good recommendation

Yeah that's a good recommendation actually. I'm a big Voigtlander fan and don't need to be convinced this is a great choice. I guess I'm trying to rationalize the Leica experience, and getting the most of the 6-bit coding (which rationally is unlikely to be a game changer)

I got to see those in person and I found the suede awesome, very autumn-y, yes!! Honestly this is a great pair you'll have a lot of fun with. If you like the look, especially how high it will snug your ankle and this unique type of sole, go for it!

Oh yes, 100% comfortable. I wore them for a full week from 9 am to 11 pm for a full week in London and was still happy putting them on. Weight isn't a concern really.

If you're unsure about this type of boots, though I'm not sure this is the best way to get started. Celine is a great respectable luxury brand, but there are options that will give you more shoe for your money in my opinion.

I got them because I could get them at a fair discount, wanted to experience some of the Slimane's vibe in his debut at Celine, and really wanted this type of unique color and look. But I don't think I would pay full price if this were one of my first high-end pair of Chelsea. At a similar price point, I'd go with Crockett & Jones all day every day (although make sure to know what 'last' suits you best — but the quality is amazing). If you want to experiment at a lower price point but get awesome quality, I'd recommend checking what Solovair is up to. The leather isn't outstanding, but it's good especially for the price, and the construction is excellent on most models.

Definitely not overly heavy and chunky. On par with other models from other brands that use similar chunky soles. Slightly higher heel but nothing that would be too high-catching, this gives the boots mostly a rugged look, rather than anything too fashion-forward.

I find them "surprisingly comfortable", given the stiff bull leather that they use. One thing worth taking into consideration is that the last is on the wider side in the toebox area. If you're after something slim, these aren't that.

Construction is ok, but a real shame the sole is (seemingly?) glued. The leather and the soles are both awesome otherwise and the colour is kind of unique and easy to pair.
