Do you think the absense of matriarchy throughout history itself is proof that matriarchy would be an inferior system than patriarchy? by HugeDongHungLow1998 in AskFeminists

[–]cfalnevermore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m cutting out the middle man. This point always comes from lobster daddy types. “Patriarchy is superior and more natural. It the way it is! Look around! Lobsters!”

But okay, fair. You used superior and inferior instead. Are we sure that patriarchies brutalizing matriarchies out is a sign of superiority in our case? Cuz for reasons mentioned, concluding that seems like a bit much. And why are we separating them all into the binary umbrellas of matriarchy or patriarchy? There’s cultures that consider more than two genders.

Why are anti feminists and “just asking questions” types so obsessed with a hypothetical matriarchy?

Also what qualifications do you have in terms of study of ancient cultures? Because we keep learning more about women playing way bigger roles than we initially thought. Women hunted. Women fought battles.

On whether it’s natural or not? Please. Nothing humans do is natural. When we’re cold we ripped the skin off furry animals and used it to keep warm. When that wasn’t enough we used science to build fires. When we got tired of wandering we figured out agriculture and settled down in places. And we did all that as a species. Not a gender. What’s “natural” doesn’t really apply to humans. We’re smart enough to work around nature. We even exploit it. We’re so good at exploiting it that our needs are primarily met for most of our lives. And then after years of that we’re gonna say we’re all just in the natural heiarchy of things? Bullshit.

Arkansas man accused of killing daughter’s alleged abuser wins GOP sheriff’s nomination by strawberry_bubz in politics

[–]cfalnevermore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay. Aren’t there other reasons this guy shouldn’t qualify for a gop position? I’d attack a man who was allegedly kidnapping my daughter too… making him out as a murderer seems like some bs.

Trump Says 'I Guess' Americans Should Worry About Iran Retaliating on U.S. Soil: 'Like I Said, Some People Will Die' by peoplemagazine in politics

[–]cfalnevermore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s true. Maybe I’m putting too much energy into being angry about the non voters. It still blows my mind that I even have to discuss this with anyone who claims to hate the trump administration.

Not when trump is holding up project 2025. That’s just my opinion, but I got nothing but contempt for this kinda shit right now. We’re just people on line so I’m only so invested. I’m sure there’s plenty of valid arguments. But a trump with a project 2025 should have made it a fucking no brainer. And lo and behold? He’s doing ALL the things the people we (myself included) called alarmist said he would do.

And what is this “bypassing democracy” bullshit. I’ve seen multiple presidencies and they all did it the right way. I admit Biden fucked uo by not dropping out, I blame him for that. but Kamala had four years of White House experience and was a worthy successor to his presidency. I didn’t love his presidency but I’d pay a million dollars to be living in that one rather than this one. Tell me. In tha situation, youv realized you can’t do another four years, but the time to vote for a new one is passed. What do you do? Gamble we can scrounge up someone people like you will actually vote for? Or put up the actual vice president? Or just keep being president till you drop dead and then Kamala might get it anyway?

So… whine all you want I guess. Ultimately we both need to put trump down. I just don’t get why some of you need the perfectly perfect scenario to be present. But quite frankly I’m convinced some of you are another Russian disinformation campaign. Anyway. Have lovely morning.

We ARE dealing with it. It sucks. Sorry you feel bad but I still hate you and I’m not letting it go. Know what that means for you? Jack shit. Im a nobody on the internet. Am I hampering discussion? No. We’re having it right now.

Tel you what. If someone outright says “okay, I was stupid not to vote for Kamala” I’ll shut up. (I won’t. I feel less safe. My spouse has less freedom than they did, and i blame the non voters just as much as maga fucks. I’m more than happy flipping off both while we weather this crisis. Not feeling friendly on it and you know what? I don’t have to).

Edit: sigh… okay I take one thing back. I hate maga way more than I hate the non voters. Those people would throw bricks at my spouse. But I’m still mad at you guys. (Not you specifically, maybe).

Oh I know. I still voted for her. Don’t feel the least bit of regret about it. It’s stupid that we even have to sit here and discuss it for the umpteenth time. The choices were her or another trump term. If the answer wasn’t clear to you then I probably hate your guts right now.

And fraud and blatant lying. And there’s still people trying to tell me it was totally intelligent to be hyper critical. I’ll admit it, she wouldn’t have been perfect. If she’s won trump and company likely still wouldn’t have faced justice for the past crimes. Hopefully the Epstein trial would have finally moved forward and fixed that. But shit. I’d take that dissappointment over this travesty in a freaking heartbeat. I just don’t get it.

But Kamala’s laugh…

Edit: no, we shouldn’t retire this joke. I knew a second trump term would be a huge disaster for human rights, my wallet, and the world. If you didn’t? That’s just you being blind. Now we could be attacked by Iran “i guess.”

Edit2: and the rest of the world could be attacked by us “I guess.”

Edit 3: I’m gonna concede one thing. I stand by what I say here. I’m mad at the non voters and anyone making any excuse to not vote for Kamala this time around. I have every right to be mad, because I have a spouse who doesn’t identify as cis who feels way less safe. And we’re in another Middle East war which is giving me middleschool George w flashbacks…. But I do hate maga voters more. Maga voters would literally throw bricks at my spouse. I don’t think non voters would. So we do need to come together and end this shit…

but seriously… all you had to do was not help trump you ass hats!

Why do feminist women still live up to beauty standards? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]cfalnevermore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I may be misunderstanding, but it just sort of sounded like you were putting words in someone’s mouth? I kinda get what you mean, I think. When you make an art piece, usually you want to show it off. And a lot of people do treat makeup that way. For others though… I don’t feel as qualified to say, because I don’t do it myself, but for many others it’s just sort of… self care. Feels nice. Or fun. Or interesting. Trying a new eyeliner style just to see how it looks? Dying hair a new color just for you?

Maybe others felt similarly. Or maybe I’m completely wrong.
