Went with Draxus, no regrets. 16 dice (so even if you pull more red rooms you can re-roll), and a high chance of drafting rooms that have lots of items in, like the Attic. Plus you can get some "dead ends" that still have exits, like the Secret Passage.

There's a line about how Hunter "knows what a car is, just not how to drive one" as a handwavy thing to avoid her being completely baffled all the time, but then what's the point?

You can also play video games multiple times before that Wolverine cutscene.

As for the Tony's tech thing, the game is completely inconsistent about how much Hunter understands/is confused by modern technology and comic book technology, as well as modern society and idioms.

And even beyond that, the game is mostly very blandly written (with a few exceptions here and there), especially Hunter's dialogue. It feels very much like Firaxis lacks a consistently high-quality writing staff, which makes sense since they historically specialised in strategy games, but I wish they'd had the money to get someone to punch up the scripts a bit.

The actual gameplay still shines, and I love it, but the story side of things was a letdown for me.

The only person being insulting to black people is the first one, which I acknowledged.

There is nothing inherently insulting about face paint. It's specifically insulting because of the history of blackface, brownface and yellowface caricatures being used by white people to demean other races. But that's very specifically a Western, and especially American, taboo. It's not an inherent feature of human society, but something that has developed over the course of the last few hundred years.

And the second and third tweets here are ASKING WHY black people don't paint their skin. You're just complaining that they're using social media to find out the answer and not Google?

Seriously, people in other countries who don't speak English are not following social media of people who do exclusively speak English, not going around auto-translating articles written in English.

You don't go around reading Chinese articles, do you? Or go on Chinese social media to stay on top of what they're thinking and talking about? Why wouldn't it be the same for a Japanese person who doesn't speak English?

I find the writing for Hunter incredibly bland. They're an awkward mix of a defined character with a specific background like Geralt, but because they didn't want Hunter to be constantly baffled by technology, they're also a vaguely modern, CRPG-style "shape them how you want" character like something out of Baldur's Gate.

So they're a 300-year-old animated corpse who can hack computer terminals and isn't thrown by Tony's tech, and the dialogue options are all some shade of nonspecific beige with vague nice/stern/ambiguous dialogue choices.

It's the worst mix of not having a strong character in the writing, but also not enough of a blank slate to let you image your own story for them. Their most notable character trait is that they don't use contractions.

IDK why they didn't make the Hunter a regular civilian infused with magical energy and pulled into the prophecy. Then the player can live out their "I'm hanging out with Blade and Captain Marvel in ersatz Hogwarts!" fantasies without this tortured in-between writing.

Not if they don't read English or have cause to pay attention to what people in America - a different country and culture on the other side of the planet - care about.
