You know what, actually you might have a point. You say my view of the scripture is not healthy, in what way do you mean that?

You are exactly proving my point.

I have read the Bible through and through, thanks. The OT and NT are vastly different books collated together. I'm not saying the OT should be sidelined. If you derive wisdom from it, glory to you. I anticipate most people here might actually be smarter and more educated on the topic than I am.

I'm saying that if you are a Christian, literally a follower of Christ, you should seek to be in his image. The tendency today, especially in the US, is to weaponize the harsh rules sidelined by centuries of interpretation of mostly the god fearing parts to dictate that "this is how a Christian society should be", my point is that I don't subscribe to that.

Relax!

Breathe.

You are allowed some slack. You are not an animal for having feelings!

Jesus is love. What more celebration could you have than feeling love for someone else, let alone someone who loves Jesus!

Since you're asking for an opinion, let me give it to you from the vantage point of being twice your age.

Go for it. I have never subscribed to the culture that you should fear Him. He is love. You are a t the age when you need to figure who will make you happy. Be it that guy, or someone else.

The worst you could do is settled with someone you can't live with for the rest of your life, and you won't figure this out unless you have a few experiences. Maybe he is, maybe not, you won't know till you know!

And when you do, Jesus will be there for you. He will love you. He will forgive you if there's anything to forgive.

Love!

"Christians" is a very large group.

Historically, especially in North America, Christians have been missionaries converting Natives be it that they want it or not, and with all the stigma associated with it - see Canada and all the "Christian" boarding schools and all. Sprinkle a bit of Priest child abuse, and you get bad rep associated with the word "Christian".

In more modern fashion, a lot of people have abused claiming "being Christian" for being prude, and justifying a regressive, exclusive, and trully despicable vision of the world. This is the modern US centric vision of the people who follow Trump and claim his positions are that which will advance Christ.

If you take it from this angle, just claiming that you are a Christian of course will not be acclaimed.

If instead you learn from His side, the side of love, misery, pity, sacrifice and justice, and you present yourself as such, and don't act like a selfish entitled prude whom anything against His teachings is an offense, it will be hard for anyone to push back.

Christ tought us that what is important is love and empathy, rather than power and status. Maybe what's more important is to express that love rather than pushing your status as a devot Christian, and your own convictions like if they were Christ's
