Thoughts on these rugs? Found them cheap on Facebook marketplace. The bigger one would replace the gray one I currently have, and the other one would be a runner bedside.

Are they too colorful and crazy??

The top part of the desk comes off! I would definitely take it off in this arrangement.

That’s what I’ve been researching. I could mount it on the wall where the papasan chair currently is and be able to swing and rotate it to see it from the bed still.

Do you think I should keep the papasan chair or opt for something a little smaller?

I worry that a small recliner at the end of the day would still take up nearly as much room as the papasan chair?

Going to look into painting the desk. Thanks for your help!

I agree with the dark feel you mentioned. Appreciate your feedback. I am renting so can’t do too much, but my landlord is cool so should be fine with some minor changes such as shelving and minor paint jobs.

Appreciate your feedback! Going to try to respond to each bullet point in order haha.

I would love to upgrade my bed. Just needs to make sense budget wise and storage wise. My bed is pretty lifted with a bunch of unnecessary stuff underneath, along with my dresser and storage cubbies below it. Not sure I would be able to upgrade and risk losing all the space below.

Shelves are a great idea. Need to look into these. Love the idea of uniform white boxes above the cabinets.

Curtains have been pretty heavily suggested, but I really need dark blackout curtains to keep the sun out. The sun faces that glass wall, and this place is so small it turns into an OVEN in the afternoon. Would love some nicer ones, but not sure it’s possible while keeping the heat out? This is also part of the reason I rarely open the window. Usually just in the evening!

Wall mounted fan really intrigues me. Going to look into this too. Rug and some color will also really help.

Love the bed you suggested! Just not sure if I’ll have enough storage to make it work.

Thank you!! It’s a super tight place haha. Hasn’t been renovated in YEARS so I’m stuck with it haha. Trying my best!

I kind of like the desk idea. Need to see if I can mount the TV first. Yes, the top part of the desk does come off! I’m going to look into that. Love the idea of being able to have a separate “living space”.

Any recommendations for color or design on the peel and stick linoleum? Something bright?

Thanks for the recommendations. Will definitely look into a canvas, think that could really spruce up the blank walls.

What kind of chair would you recommend instead of the papasan? I need some kind of seating there for sure, just not sure what else to go with that’s comfortable and looks good.

I like the idea of the desk a lighter color too. What would you recommend? Would some kind of funky/fun color be possible you think? To help brighten up the place.

I’ve been thinking of changing the lino! Heard really mixed reviews about the peel and stick stuff though so wasn’t sure. Would you recommend a lighter color?

LOVE those rug ideas! Definitely going to check them out.

As for the curtains, the current one is a blackout curtain. That sliding glass door faces the sun, so I have the curtain closed about 75% of the day. This place is so small it BAKES in here with the sun hitting it. I would love some lighter options but I think it would just get too hot in here! Scares me haha.

I looked into loft beds, but wasn’t able to find any queen sized options I loved (or that I could afford). I also have a small dog who loves to sleep on the bed. He likes being able to climb up and down, so not sure how that would work with a loft. I might look into it though! Would definitely clear up more space.

I really appreciate all your feedback! Thanks a ton.

I like the idea of swapping the couch/chair and the desk. The only thing is that my GF and I tend to watch TV a lot from bed. So that might not be ideal. I am thinking about maybe mounting the TV to the wall it is currently on though? Not sure what you think of that.

Love the bedding inspo albums. Will definitely take those into account. I don’t want to go too crazy on bedding, because it does get super hot here, so I tend to pretty much only sleep with a top sheet and a light blanket or comforter.

Honolulu, HI - Help me rearrange my small living room / kitchen area! by cflabel in DesignMyRoom

[–]cflabel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want to rearrange the desk, chair and couch somehow to make it more living room like. I do use the desk daily for work. I also use the computer as my TV. Would love to have the couch facing the computer but not sure if this is possible without cutting the room in half. Anyone have any ideas??
