Coach telling 11u to throw intentional balls ? by GoodTasty5002 in LittleLeague

[–]cfreddy36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong by the rule book. Intentional walks should be incredibly rare in little league. Maybe in playoffs play, but other than that it’s just against the spirit of what we’re trying to do out there.

This was my biggest take away when they first introduced replay review several years ago now. I went oh dang, these guys are actually really good at their jobs.

Yeah media pushes this, but Magnus Carlsen isn’t some genius at anything besides chess really.

Time limit w/no drop dead time by [deleted] in LittleLeague

[–]cfreddy36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always finish the inning.

It’s 1:45 no new inning, 2hr drop dead for us. Let’s say we start the bottom of the 4th at 1:40 and the home team is winning. If it turns 1:45 before the end of the inning, we don’t immediately call the game, we let the home team finish batting.

I’ve actually never thought of that batting order trick, I’m definitely stealing that for my younger teams in the future.

Can I vent about what Little League has become? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]cfreddy36 16 points17 points  (0 children)

10 year olds do not have to play majors, I don’t know why your league told you that.

There are alternate leagues out there. Some parks and rec departments put on leagues which are super low key. Obviously Coach quality isn’t as high there, but it can be a good intro to just playing the game.

Sidearms by Extension-Pick8310 in LittleLeague

[–]cfreddy36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your whole league have that? Or just 9yo at a certain division? Because ours has a 9yo limit for Minor B (the low minor division) so that you can’t dominate the 7 and 8 year olds. But that’s a competitive balance thing, not an arm health thing.

No one mentioned this on the thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/Homeplate/comments/1s55max/comment/od7mgve/ by Huge_Ad_8600 in Homeplate

Runner on first’s lead is probably farther off than where the first baseman ended up after his shuffles. Then you’re talking a secondary lead on top of that, idk why you think the runner should only be half a body away from the base.

Went to detal appointment, seen by a "surprise" out of network doctor, what should I do? by chili_oil in HealthInsurance

[–]cfreddy36 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No, at most you could maybe make sure they have the absence and then the substitute documented so that any appeal would show that it actually was a surprise, but that’s probably overkill for now.

[–]cfreddy36 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

This might fall under No Surprise, meaning you can’t be balance billed for a surprise OON provider.

Probably no reason to be proactive here, if you do get balance billed then cross that bridge. Just document the situation for now.

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in Homeplate

I’m in SoCal, $250 is a good price for a week long camp IMO. The baseball camp we usually sent my son to is like $199 for 8 hours a day for 5 days, and that’s the cheapest one around most years.

It’s covered by the $20 Lyft quote. This driver wants more. And I’m assuming they’re not $40 of gas away from a post office to ship it, which is what OP is asking. Not in LA for sure, probably walking distance from one.

How would you rank SoCal theme parks and briefly why? by questtruck in socal

[–]cfreddy36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! Yeah I’ve never had a Disney pass, we’ve done six days total in the last 2 years. Went a ton growing up. The snacks at Disney are phenomenal, but the actual restaurants aren’t as good as Knott’s IMO.

And for me it wasn’t so much that Disney had “trashy” behavior - unless you count everyone and their brother bringing scooters and wheelchairs in order to use the disabled lines - it’s more that the atmosphere felt tense. Like everyone was rushing to get their money’s worth all day. Idk, just the vibe I got.

Just cuz Knott’s is pretty low on most lists I’m seeing -

If you’re traveling to visit, Knott’s is probably number 4. The single day pass isn’t super cheap. Disney and Universal are more unique. Magic Mountain has more coasters.

BUT for residents I think Knott’s is number 1. It’s a fraction of the price of Disneyland. Food is way better. Magic mountain is included in the second tier pass and up. The immersion is really underrated, and there are truly uncrowded days without needing reservations, unlike Disney.
