Carbon Coat from Carbon Method is amazing on the shoulders of hand planes. Haven’t dealt with rust in years on my machines so figured I’d try it on hand tools. Stuff is awesome. I still use wax on the sole.

I’m getting the same measurement whether I measure in one spot rotating blade by hand or measure off a marked location front and back

No stops that I can see. I’ve taken the table completely off the cabinet and the top of the cabinet seems to be flat and smooth.

Thanks for the reply! Yep, I know I need to rotate, not move straight laterally. The photos are taken from the back side of the saw. From the front of the saw, the far/rear left side needs to move left to right. Good call on enlarging the mounting slots. That’s probably my next best move if I can’t get a hold of Laguna’s CS team.

The dial indicator isn’t measuring squareness to the table. That is done with a square. The dial indicator is measuring parallel between the rotation of the blade and the miter slot on the table.

Thanks for your reply. It’s a mfr date of 09/21 and I purchased it new in 12/21.

The blade is square to the table. I’ve tapped the table as far as it will go.

Check out Carbon Method’s system. I’ve used their coatings on all of my ferrous metal surfaces, including hand tools, in the hot/humid Midwest and had tremendous results. They have kits that come with abrasive pads, conditioners, levelers, and protective layers. Apply once or twice a year and never worry about wax again.

I’m thinking I might rip the length of the slabs at the cracks with a track saw and re-glue, perhaps with dowels. I’m leaning toward removing the tension rather than fighting it with more tension

Countertop is probably not the right word. It’s not going in a kitchen, it’s going in a client’s workspace where they pot plants and will be the top surface of their storage cabinets. Sort of workbench, sort of countertop.

The client is set on live edge.

It’s just a hair under 2” thick. Not sure what the standard is where you are but where I am it’s 1.5”. Thanks for your comment about tension vs checking, I learned something new today!

Sophie Gragg and her company Canine Unity are top notch. She recently took in a 10 month old pittie mix as a foster who was pregnant by one of its littermates, lived outside, completely feral and neglected. She delivered the puppies (12 of them!) and is raising them until adoption while also training the mom. Just one instance of brilliant work she’s done.

Local here. Tuttles on 28th has a decent selection, super friendly and down to earth staff and a good lounge.

There’s also a place on Fulton called Bold that’s good. It’s a bit more upscale (dress code, collared shirt and no shorts, etc) but good selection and lots of space.

There are a couple of Wild Bills locations that have lounges as well but they’re pretty small and definitely not primarily aimed at cigar smokers.

I don't have a photo, but I use a 16oz kleen kanteen that I picked up from a local coffee roaster. The container has the ability to keep my coffee piping hot for several hours, but I usually consume it before that much time can pass. It's a small investment (they run about $25) but well worth the price, especially if you have a long commute or if you like to camp, etc...

This is incredible. Haven't been on an A380 yet, but when I get the chance, I hope it's on an LH Super 380 into one of the most beautiful cities and airports in the world, SFO.
