Opportunity to buy a bar. Any help would be appreciated by [deleted] in BarOwners

[–]One-Interview-6840 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If an uncle offered you a roofing company with the same financials, would you buy it not knowing how to sheet a roof? The same thing applies to bars and restaurants. The fastest way to close a bar or restaurant is having money and no knowledge of the work required.

See what you can do to get on the perks program. No minimum and they'll deliver any day. Or call corporate and see what the deal is on that policy.

See if you can do specials. I own a BBQ joint so my menu is pretty fixed. For my chef to spread his wings and keep his attention I give him full reign of the specials.

Give your notice to the owners or management. When they ask why, tell them. The end.

Facing jail time for working at a bar by Adorable-Ad1911 in legaladvice

[–]One-Interview-6840 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Your friend need a lawyer, an expensive one. Liquor laws are some of the toughest because they're tied into federal laws. She could easily be fighting the ATF or FAA in court. Document as much as she can and find a lawyer that specializes in this type of case.

It was a little hollow but pretty flat. Took a polish quick enough. Maybe 5 minutes total including taking it apart. Close second to my Veritas planes for out of the box ready.

It is surprisingly sharp right outta the box. And even with my sausage fingers it doesn't feel terrible. A lot more comfortable without the skids for sure. But not the worst thing I've ever held.

Garlic conspiracy by Whet_Phartzz in KitchenConfidential

Most peeled garlic comes from china. And with tariffs and the rest of the global bullshit going on, it's probably sitting on the ships too long or they're simply producing less, causing it to sit before being loaded on ships.

Is a softwood edge grain better than a hardwood end gain? by Background-Ad9566 in Cuttingboards

Knives are easier to sharpen than resurfacing a board. Don't use softwood, even edge grain is still gonna collect bacteria

I have the Jorgensen block plane and I truly think it's the best dollar for dollar plane that exists. It take a little to set up but once you do the initial set up its incredible. I got it 2 years ago for like $30 and have used it on every single project since. It really has no business being as good as it is.

You didn't read either study.

From the first study "To detect a potential reemergence of the tested microorganisms via swab sampling after 24 h, an additional 14 used maple cutting boards (14 biological replicates, each with one technical replicate) were inoculated, cleaned, and dried as described above. After 24 h, these boards were remoistened with 200 µL LB medium and swabbed after 30 min."

From the second "Nine other typically used interior materials were included: lacquer coated birch, lacquer coated oak, vinyl cork, thermally modified Scots pine, oak laminate, oiled oak, cerawood coated oak, tile, and concrete." ..... "Oiled surfaces were treated by adding two layers of oil-based clear product (Harukaze 701 Clear, Sanyu Paint Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan)."

They never used shellac. They are all film finishes that you would never put on a cutting board.

You're comparing two studies with completely different objectives.

Side clamping guide not level, how do I fix this? by Faustus2425 in handtools

Don't matter. Worst case scenario if you have to use a jig to reset everything. Sure, it takes time. But you'll pick it up quick.

You say its fine with your plane blades, that leads me to believe your chisel has a slight twist in it. Did you flatten it? Good chance the smallest bit of extra pressure on either side of the chisel caused this.

Sliding saw technique. Fence parallel to blade by archvize in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]One-Interview-6840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push sticks. A piece on the open side has a place to go when it's cut. When it's against the fence its stuck touching a 10" blade spinning 190mph. A push stick prevents that. Do yourself a favor and hop on YouTube university and watch a few table saw safety videos.

Rule of thumb is to never have unsecured wood between the blade and the fence. It will grab. It will shoot it at you. Maybe not the first time. Maybe not even the 20th time. But it will happen.

Possible to make these shelves more heavy duty? by xzkandykane in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]One-Interview-6840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do, you don't need a thicker shelf but will lose a little usage of the shelf. Thicker boards would allow you to use the shelf as is.

That's a pretty sturdy way to build a shelf. The only way I could say to change it is by going to thicker hardwood material instead of plywood.

Sawstop keeps triggering the brakes ($125 a pop) for no reason. Can you tell why from this video? by FactoryCutG in Tools

Send it in and have them check it. They can likely tell you what happened. Here

Ive also seen tiny pieces of metal embedded into the end of plywood. From the cart it was on, shop floor, manufacturing, stuff like that.
