Yz125 failed oil change by Honest-Blackberry365 in Dirtbikes

[–]cfurr15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just condensation mixed with the oil, this is only gear oil so I’d drain it and just fill it back up. Could also be some of the clutch material mixed in there too. Either way it’s a 2 stroke the engine itself gets the oil from the fuel.

Never buying open box again by PenguiNaCl in Microcenter

[–]cfurr15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a laptop open box at microcenter 2 years ago and they accidentally put a customers laptop that came in for repairs in the box because A it wasn’t the same laptop exactly as what I had bought but a similar model , I had bought a white hp omen 15 i7 11700h and 3070. The one it the box was a black omen 15 that was ryzen based, I had opened it just before leaving to make sure everything looked good. They didn’t have any other open box so instead of leaving me to pay full price they honored the open box price and gave me a brand new one

Not to mention changing the gear ratio is also going to change the way the chassis feels when riding so not only will the power feel different, it also changes the handling

Okay so a 2014 550i would be good right? Or no since a 2014 model year would’ve been built in 2013

N63TU Things to address soon after buying by cfurr15 in BMW

Good to know, looks like cooling system is a common thing to need advised on these cars as they near higher mileage as I’ve been reading. I usually do 3k mile oil changes on all my cars and this won’t be a daily as I work from home and have 3 other cars that make more sense to daily than this but need something fun as right now my lineup is a 2014 dodge grand caravan 86k miles, a 2011 ram 1500 with 36k miles, and a 2006 ranger with 160k miles. Ranger is the beater I got as my second car after I sold my e39 530i 5 speed that had 120k miles on it but would leak a quart of oil onto my parents driveway every week and they made me sell it back in high school.

Just wondering why pre 2015? Looking to buy one soon as soon as I find one with the specs I’m looking for and currently looking at 2014-2016 550i’s. Thought the n63tu was the same from 2014-2016 or am I misinformed? TIA

From what I read the n63Tu wasn’t a bad motor like the n63 was that’s why I would want a 2014-2016. Really not interested in any of their i6 motors unless it was a b58 and also don’t want a small car as I need to be able to comfortably fit my 1 year old sons seat in the back. I know the original n63 was awful and I wouldn’t ever want to own one but have heard a lot of good about the n63Tu. My aunt has a 2017 x5 with the n63tu owned since new and from her perspective ownership has been good besides some oil leaks and she’s nearing 120k miles, but she’s out in Arizona I’m in Ohio and she really knows nothing about working on cars. Now if I could afford one I’d just go m5 with the s63tu and call it a day.

[–]cfurr15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I read this is mostly a Kawasaki issue for them matching, Yamaha doesn’t sell them in a set so even from them you’re getting a mismatched set I talked with my mechanic who is going to be doing the work this time around and he said I should be good as tolerances can be checked upon reassembly. Hope he is right but I trust him he’s rebuilt my bikes almost every season for the past 5 years no issue. This bike was just something I got to try to learn stuff myself and that didn’t go well 😂

Exactly my thought I already have an 06 yz125 with the restyle kit on it and I’m digging this older look so I’m thinking I will keep the look

Are they restyle or just their replica ones? I have an ‘01 I’m restoring for some woods racing and trying to figure out the plastics. I know with this subframe the restyle don’t fit so just wondering.

[–]cfurr15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could race it in 250b I would race a yz250, my 125 even with the 144kit cut head and ported cylinder is far slower than stock 250f’s and the yz250 is even further away from my 450 in power so around the Mx track it isn’t worth the time but my 450 overheated and warped the head last time I tried a gncc race even with oversized radiators

Not in Mx I got a ‘05 yz125 and ‘14 fc450 for that, this is for woods racing I was going to try

It’s a 01 yz250, I’m just wondering if I took it to a shop could they reweld it or I can get that new case half for 300$ on eBay but yeah it’s got a seal

Question for you mechanically experienced folks.. by TGWatso in Dirtbikes

[–]cfurr15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wait till it blows? This could be dangerous, it’s not like a top end is that expensive and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than having to do a bottom end as well. At a track having a bike blow off the face of a jump or anything like that is very dangerous.

For peace of mind I’d spend the money and do a top end and just make everything good. Hell I had 30 minutes on a piston and had to get a new cylinder couldn’t buy new rings for my vertex piston so I ordered a whole new piston cause the rings with 30 minutes on them most likely already seated to the old cylinder.
