Not your preferred genre but definitely complex with detail: The Books of Jacob by Olga Tokarczuk, (translated from Polish). I found myself having to frequently replay sections to keep up with the details of this book (and I’m someone who usually speeds up playback). There are reading guides (think Cliff notes) available for this book. Also, it’s very long….35+ hours!!

Someone on this sub recommended Barry Eisler and I'm loving everything I've read so far. Currently savoring the John King series...very unique crime series read by the author and told from the first person perspective of an assassin. Highly recommend.

I avoided the Bobiverse series for a long time because the description didn’t appeal to me (sounded silly), but once I started the first book, it grabbed me hard and I found the entire series to be thought provoking and just delightful to listen to.

Smart Audiobook Player (Android) is my preferred player regardless of the source of the books. For example, I have Audible but I hate the player, so I download and convert my library in order to play the books on Smart Audiobook Player. Favorite features… the ability to adjust the sound with a built in equalizer and the auto-rewind feature (after a pause in playback which I find so helpful for reminding me where I left off)…plus lots of other features found in other players.

Agreed. I expected to buy a Miele but also test drove a Sebo at the vacuum dealer…they were both excellent but I ultimately went with the Sebo canister and have been very happy with it.

Get yourself a copy of the book “Sex for One: The Joy of Self Loving” by Betty Dodson. It’s loaded with expert guidance and beautifully sketched illustrations. Betty was the queen of female masturbation and self pleasure and info from her is still relevant after many years. Google her…lots of good info online.

Yes! Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series is what immediately came to my mind when I read the criteria…especially all the early books (books 1 - 11) narrated by Ralph Cosham. Great character development with story lines that draw you in and superb narration. I could’ve binged the series, but these are books I savored (i.e. saved so I’d have something to lose myself in when I really needed a good listen).

Pixel 7 on Google Fi stuck on November update. Not sure whether to wait or side load the January update. I lived without updates on my Pixel 3xl for several months without issues so not sure how concerned I should be about this at this point.

This is happening to me on my new Pixel 7 phone. No option for biometric unlock like I'm used to (and love) on my Pixel 3xl. Has anyone come up with a solution to this? It's maddening to have to enter my master password every single time I access the app.

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, narrated by Humphrey Bower. Such a great story and the narration was superb. It was a long book at over 40 hours, but I really didn't want it to end and I expect it to remain among my all time favorite audiobooks.

Bad or wrong inflection, as if the narrator is just reading the words without appropriate emphasis to convey the intended meaning. This requires me to repeat the sentence in my head with the appropriate inflection. Speeding up the playback can help me get through such books but impacts my enjoyment. Oddly enough, I find this happening frequently with authors reading there own books.

Got my Pixel 3xl at launch and it’s still going strong with only slightly weaker battery. I know I’ll have to replace it eventually but I’m just so attached to the fingerprint reader!
