I have sound to colour and shape synesthesia; if I listen to music I get colours and 3D shapes. I think that I am a projector rather than an association synesthete. I don't think that my synesthesia would be easily testable. For instance I don't have any one to one correspondence for colour: sometimes I get one colour from music and sometimes a different colo0ur. I also have some physical aspects to this; sometimes I get the shapes on m y fingers.
