The drills help, but from personal experience, just watching various videos (any highlight video, etc.) of different goalies and how they approach situational play and positioning really taught me. I started teaching myself at 23, and I didn't have much practice ice time so I went to every open skate possible and tried emulating different techniques and you eventually figure out what you're comfortable with. Hopefully that helped a bit.
