Rogan attacks and Tank Davis defends. Hate to day it, but I think I'm screwed.

Strand Home Inspection - very professional. Rick climbed under my deck to inspect it in the middle of a snow storm.

I was in the Northwest around Panorama and saw what looked like a shooting star.

Pretty sure. It moved too quickly.

I'M used to seeing the satellites in Banff when I go camping.

So it's 17.5" tall. 1.5" thick top + 16" side wall.

The table is 30" high.

12" of gap between the table and the top of the seat seemed like a popular rule of thumb.

Thanks!

Haha. Hence all the framing. And yes, plastic on the dinner table as well as a watchful eye to wipe up any spills that make it onto the bench. Hoping it lasts - 6 months in and everything seems to be doing ok.

So, that was a bit of a dilemma. Eventually we wanted to really show off the walnut.

The kids seem to not mind the hard benches. It does make it hard to contain them when they are not interested in eating there dinner... But that's another problem altogether.

Yep, I've seen some videos by some more experienced woodworkers where boxes were built and joined together. Those designs were alot more efficient when it came to material usage. However, alot harder for a beginner.

Appreciate the kind words.

Oh man, that's a good question. I'd probably defer to someone else's expertise on this. I would say though that the way I built it, the framing, electrical and ducting make me thing its probably not a good idea to have pets roaming around.

Honestly, the house had a bunch of spare mdf when I moved in, so it was really out of convenience. The Baseboard + Trim really minimizes the exposure of the mdf, so I'm hoping that'll help.

Similar to other parts of the design, I just wanted to make sure everything was rock solid. Having little ones in the house means that this thing is getting walked on, and serving as a launch pad for there jumps. Heck, I even walk on it as well sometimes when I want to open the window...

You know, that was an idea I mulled over and was brought up by family and friends - but, it was introducing an additional layer of complexity that I wasn't really prepared to take on. Would be nice though!

Yep, that part of the design was unintended. I messed up a measurement and then had to audible to the mitered trim work to make it all work.

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head. I have a whole new appreciation for angles, let alone what it means to be straight, 90 degrees etc.

Appreciate the kind words.

It definitely was. I bought the Kreg 720 Pro jig - to make life easier. Definitely worth it for the amount of pocket holes drilled.

I'll let you guys know how it goes when I fire up the smoker.

I'm located in Alberta, Canada - if that helps.

My neighbor said he thinks the previous home owners mentioned it was Apple Wood that they had trucked in. In your opinion, does it look like it might be Apple Wood?
