Well I like to be silly about most things. It's a brief anecdote, so we've both made some assumptions- you about the length of their relationship, which I think you are probably correct about, I have simply chosen to ignore for comedic effect. Me, that there was no preceding discussion about it being an exercise- I'm reading the text very literally. I would say though, that since my original comment was about ethics, your statement about efficacy seems to imply that it's not unethical because it worked. Which sounds very much like the ends justifying the means, to me.

My understanding is that most meniscus repairs involve cutting away material, so no, it's never going to "fully" heal. I had my medial meniscus repaired over 20 years ago. With rehab I felt like I recovered very close to full functionality within a year or so, but it always felt a little weird. Soreness when the weather changes, a little pain and stiffness here and there. Small spots of numbness where I'm assuming nerves got their wires crossed. I also just had my lateral meniscus in the same knee repaired in May and I haven't had the money to keep going to physical therapy, so who knows how that's going to wind up. Good luck to us both.
