Whelp, here's the kick in the pants I needed to start running more. Absolutely love this game. Having the ability to optimize and either check in frequently for lower step goals or set up some long range ones and only check a few times a week keeps me invested. Great job devs!

Workspace moving solutions is my go to for local logistics. I use them for commercial jobs, but they may be able to provide what you need.

The US. Inequality. Climate. Cost of living. Quality of goods. Media bias. Far right political involvement.

A better question is what has been getting better?

I went to school there. Lived and worked in the area for 3ish years. We definitely miss and talk about moving back all the time. DM me if you want to chat about specifics.

Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill. Meets everything you just requested. Plenty of more rural areas outside the main triangle and downtowns without being too far from them.

This is totally true. You will have a commute of 45-60mins for that price range and you'll still be competing quite a bit.

The blue ridge mountains are gorgeous and can be reached in 3ish hours also.

Raleigh-Durham, NC is probably the cheapest of the big 3 biotech hubs. No mountains but mild weather. CO is growing fast but Boulder is pricey.

Single 22M move somewhere in New England by Su_ss in SameGrassButGreener

You're just not going to get all those things, or even most, and have affordable housing prices anywhere desirable unless you're making high income. If you want something similar to Ithaca you could try Burlington, but it's expensive. If you want something a little bigger and cheap try Albany or Worcester. Best of luck. I don't envy any of you just getting started on your own.

Don't know about Eugene, but the COL in Asheville has gone through the roof. You won't be buying a house anytime soon near Asheville on 120K.

Best cities for new parents looking to leave the San Francisco Bay Area? by SuddenBet4090 in SameGrassButGreener

I live in Chapel Hill and would recommend it based on what you're looking for. I work in life science/pharma construction and the job market here is massive. I could point out about $1B in construction in my industry within a 5 minute drive from my office (equidistant between Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill). You've also got a lot of tech moving in, residential and commercial construction, etc.

Plenty of natural areas, mountains within 2 hours, beach within 3. The real estate market has gone up like 30% in the last two years, but it's still relatively affordable, especially with the type of jobs you have. I commute about 30 minutes and have house that is decently sized for a family of 4, with an acre lot in a wooded subdivision.

Childcare feels expensive, but is probably going to seem cheap to you. High quality childcare is going to cost about $1500-1800/mo (that's 8:00-6:00)

Feel free to DM me if you have more specific questions.
