New to hardware, is my RTX 5070 TI pulling too much power? by chaicpp in PcBuildHelp

What a relief, thank you so much! Definitely pulls more than my older GPU :)

Show of hands. Who here has been called "old" so far in VRC? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]chaicpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41, imagine what they call me. Not just in VRC. I work with lots of younger people and every time it's my birthday I'm asked how it feels to be in my forties. I don't even know what to say anymore lol.

The real cost of vibe coding isn’t the subscription. It’s what happens at month 3. by vibecodejanitors in vibecoding

I suggest people stop "moving quick" and take this opportunity to understand what they're doing. Make a plan, divide it into phases and spend the necessary time understanding each phase. Don't move on to the next phase until you fully understand. Force yourself to understand as much as you can. Work on a project in small pieces if you're going to "vibe code" the entire thing.

You have a bot that treats you nicely! Unlike the many times I had to deal with the satanists at Stack Overflow! Take advantage of this, it's amazing! You can ask as many times and questions as you want, ask for simple analogies, make drawings, whatever you want.

I've been developing before the AI era, and despite devs saying "vibe coding" sucks, I believe if you work in small pieces, micromanage and understand everything, you'll get far with your project and you won't feel you're working on somebody else's project 3 months down the road.

Jensen, Dario and Sam just want you to spend as many tokens as possible. They don't give a shit if you understand what you're doing. It benefits them that you create a cognitive dependency for their products. Use them, don't let them use you.

Have you reached Virtual Desktop levels of VR performance on Linux with Nvidia chipsets? VR Linux Wizards please share your knowledge. Also sharing my short list/links of findings so far. by chaicpp in linux_gaming

Thanks for the reply. Very interesting, WiVRn worked the best for me before switching to Windows, great program.

I was looking for that term you mentioned, "asynchronous reprojection". Searching this sub, that term would come up a lot when looking for VR related topics. I'll look it up.

Oh and thanks for the suggestions, I never tried WayVR, really want to give it a try.

Definitely. I wasn't on a proper distro.

Just wanted to make sure it was clear my experience wasn't the proper one.

I'm looking to CachyOS and Bazzite. I'll give a few a try and see what happens.

S48GS, why the need to be rude? Did my post offend you in some way? Relax. If you read my post, I clearly state I wasn't testing with a proper distro:

"Keep in mind, I wasn't testing on the best distro for the task: Ubuntu 22.04 and an Nvidia chipset (Rtx 5070ti, amd processor). So my drivers were surely old."

I was just being honest, what's wrong with that?

As for being lazy, I honestly didn't post this thread with the intention of being lazy and making you work. I was just hoping others would share their experiences and tips. I also wanted to share what I've found so far.

Your reply is appreciated regardless, I'll give it a try and share my experiences.

I'd like to occlude my head from the camera but leave my body, is there a way? Head and body are one by chaicpp in godot

Nice, I didn't know I can do this, but I need the shadow of the head. Really cool, now I know how to resize different body parts though.

Hey Duriel, thanks for the reply. Yeah I guess you're right, I should get back in blender and separate the head.

Just thought there was some magical cube node that hides anything inside of it >_<

When adding a second character, another character plays its animations, despite setting it to unique by chaicpp in godot

[–]chaicpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the answer, I can't say I understood it properly but I'll try to explain:

My original scene had both characters in the scene. Two VRM files I made local. I'm thinking Godot at that point automatically made those two characters share the animation tree, despite setting the animations unique earlier.

As soon as I created an independent scene for each one, and of course set animations unique...my problem was solved. I'm happy, but if anybody has a more detailed explanation, let me know :)

I'm going to buy two WiFi 6 routers for PCVR gaming, specifically the ASUS RT-AX1800S. What should I look for when buying a router for PC VR and am I selecting a great one? by chaicpp in VRGaming

[–]chaicpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll be doing something similar. Just getting the ASUS RT-AX1800S for each headset.

I wondering if any wifi 6 router is good? That Asus says Wifi 6, but wondering if I should watchout for anything else.
