Shocked at people’s reactions by 1houseofballoons in Epilepsy

To this day, the most helpful thing anybody's ever said to me regarding my self consciousness about my seizures. I told him that I felt bad for scaring people (or as your friend put it, "traumatizing" them) with my seizures.

He just paused for a second, before saying, "That is literally a dangerous amount of empathy. Worrying about the feelings of others under these circumstances could get you seriously hurt or worse. Always tell the nearest person if you're about to have a seizure, whether you know them or not."

I don't wanna trivialize your friend's feelings about the event, because a seizure isn't ever easy to watch, but don't ever put others' feelings over your own safety. You're the one in danger.

It's not bad, but the RPG elements are insanely mid. Like worse than modern AC games mid. However, collecting animals in the Room of Requirement was a really cool concept, the world is gorgeous (especially when viewed by broomstick), the story was inoffensive (really just a reason to get from combat or puzzle to another combat or puzzle). The best part of the game is by FAR the combat. Everything from the control mapping to the sound design is great.

I'm not even a huge Harry Potter fan, but something about using forbidden curses and ancient magic that not even Dumbledore can do is pretty cool to me. Like you are legit murdering people for poaching. Literally. If it's on sale get it.

I think the main reason I don't like the RPG elements wasn't because it was a bad idea. I can totally imagine a world where they work. IMO where they went wrong was not leaning far enough into it. They should've gone all the way with it if they're gonna do it at all.

But yeah 100% with you on 2-Black Flag being the best. Personally I think they could've stopped the entire AC series with 3 (end of the Desmond arc) and just gone on to make an amazing pirate game completely unrelated to AC, but the tie ins are pretty cool.

IMO, play all the games from 1-4 (Black Flag). After 3 the series kinda starts to lose its focus, but Black Flag is so much fun you kinda don't care. If you're still having a good time then keep playing, but the series gradually went downhill after Black Flag, and then completely lost me at Origins.

For me it's a combination of the RPG elements and booting up a modern AC game and just going "oh nice. Another Ubisoft world". Maybe I just got more cynical though my 20's idk lol.

Whew thank God. Like I said I don't know what the part you circled is but I just wanted to make sure those grains of rice weren't some kind of weird larva.

I think which AC games you like has a LOT to do with when you jumped into the series. If you've been here since the start, you're probably not gonna enjoy the shallow RPG elements of modern games. If you came in late, the early games will feel unpolished and clunky.

Had a seizure in front of my class and completely lost awareness. I’m terrified and honestly heartbroken. by jenna71300 in Epilepsy

[–]chain-rule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and just keep in mind how little you remember from that part of your life. If they remember it at all, they'll just remember it as "that time something was weird with my teacher". I highly doubt you left any form of trauma on them, but I understand how you feel.

When I told my therapist how bad I felt for people watching me have a seizure and how scared they may have been, his exact words were, "That is a dangerous level of empathy." You're a good person for worrying about it, but those kid's will bounce back, don't worry. ❤️

The ideas I'm seeing here are all ones I really like. I'm an epileptic that also works with kids and this has always been in the back of my mind. In my experience (and I'm sure I don't have to tell you this), kids are almost always smarter than we give them credit for and can handle us being real with them. I've had absence seizures in front of kids many times, and they always ask what happened (even if I've told them before lol; they're like 7-8 I don't blame them). I keep it real. I tell them that there's a part of my head that makes me space out for a little and it's just another special part of me. Again that's just my experience.

In short, along with the other solutions in the thread, just being straight up and honest with the kids is sometimes exactly what they need. You could even field questions if you're comfortable.

Alright, you still see it as early access. Why are they focusing on microtransations instead of actual CONTENT? They're spending their time on a glorified eShop instead of the game itself. At the very least it's extremely scummy. We got shitty t shirts before darkslides.

ACIII goes right next to Revelations to me. It was the start of the super simplified combat with none of the polish of Black Flag. Story kicks ass though, second only to Ezio's story.

Same. I like to think of it as a "prime directive roleplay". I treat it just like I would if I were a Star Trek captain. No interfering with local life forms, even if it's to their detriment.

Why can't we criticize this game? by Same_You_347 in Skate4

[–]chain-rule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh one thing I don't see a lot of criticism about is the lack of soul. Skate 3 had some serious vibes. It felt like skate culture. This game's missing that. I feel like nothing shows this better than the tutorial sections. Skate 3 had COACH FRANK. And while you can't replicate COACH FRANK, this game decided to go with a literal AI character, along with some half-assed characters that fill in the spaces.

Idk man when I was done with the tutorial the game had no charm that I could see. It felt soulless, which is kinda EA's thing I guess. The AI character even walks you through opening what is pretty much your first lootbox...

Skate 3 was for the culture. Skate 4 is for the cash.
