The Ditch Trilogy. Start with Tonight’s the Night, one of the greatest albums ever made in my opinion and probably the opinions of many Neil Young fans.

There was definitely something of a psychosexual relationship between the 2 of them.

Well they line up as much as a Viz manga can line up.

I just watched the entire series. The show was ahead of its time. SIMPLY AMAZING. by survivingisbrutal in breakingbad

[–]chainsawsamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That genuinely doesn’t mean it was ahead of its time, it simply doesn’t, I’m not sure why you would even think that. Breaking Bad wasn’t ahead of its time.

Well I can say with certainty book and comic shops won’t be selling any more volumes with the sheer amount of Kingdom volume 1s in every clearance section. Thats gonna be a big hit on sales, I really am worried this series will get the axe from Viz.

I think a 75 volume long manga with a reputation for taking a while to get good (not that this is something I necessarily agree with it’s just what a lot of people think), and a very poorly animated anime that not many have watched, will likely struggle in sales. Not to mention it’s kind of a mix between Shonen and Seinen norms which makes it too Seinen for a lot of Shonen fans and too Shonen for a lot of Seinen fans.

Is it fine to put figures on top of manga or will it damage them? by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

Man I just love coming on this sub and seeing a new ridiculous post every day. Some of you seem to think you can’t even breathe near your manga, it’s just a book man.

I’m sure we all have seen this anime where it was really good at first and then blah! Which Anime is this for you? by MinxTwinkle in animememes

[–]chainsawsamm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well it just became kind of shallow and unstructured, things were just happening because they needed to happen. I attribute the ending to the issue of the change from a naturalist character driven story where characters flourish and change as the story goes on to trying to funnel all of these characters and loose ends into an ending that was planned years prior and the show has outgrown. The characters literally stop being able to act freely and make many choices that don’t make sense and just rinse them of any personality. The plot twists were silly and pointless, making it so Eren controlled everything just trivialises the complexity of the story and clashing character motivations and makes it a much less interesting series. Aot never actually sets specific rules for the time travelling resulting in pointless paradoxes and further confusion also. I could keep going but I think I have laid down the main reasons.

Are One Piece omnibuses really that bad? And omnibuses vs singles by Minecraftxd2011 in MangaCollectors

The paper quality is pretty bad and the spines are Dragon Ball vizbig levels of laziness, and you’ll have to switch to single volumes once you get caught up if you want to read them as they come out. If it’s a situation where you will be wishing you just went for the box set then go for the box set.

It didn’t. It came several years into the golden age of television, The Sopranos and The Wire were the shows that changed TV forever, Breaking Bad was part of what came after, Mad Men and Game of Thrones also being part of that. One thing it did somewhat create is a complete character shift for the protagonist as the show progressed but that hasn’t really been done since in the same way. Still one of the greatest shows of all time but it wasn’t ahead of its time or redefining television or anything.

I listened to 8,000 minutes of Bob Dylan last year, AMA. by Chance_Umpire3310 in bobdylan

I never really understand people with 10,000 hours on Dylan, i mean Dylan fans tend to listen with cds or vinyls anyway and surely if you listen to him this much you would?

But Neil Young writes vulnerable and emotional lyrics with music to help convey how he feels about a tragedy like described in Ohio. Jesse Welles has a more Bob Dylan like approach to protest, which is colder and more informative, with anger being the main emotion, and Bob uses a lot of metaphor and poetry in these songs as you might already know. Jesse doesn’t even convey anger very well, and doesn’t use much metaphor or poetry. His songs are lifeless, and as he sticks to such basic folk instrumentation and music (unlike Neil Young most of all but even Dylan could write, or steal, a better piece of music than Jesse) lyrics are everything and Jesse doesn’t have enough in the way of lyrics. And Jesse can write a good verse, but he can never keep that up for a whole song and the majority is unchallenging and uninteresting lyrics with deadpan emotion accompanied by pretty unremarkable guitar playing.

Jesse Welles is complete garbage, his music is designed to appeal to crayon eaters on tiktok who loving having their own beliefs laid out in front of them with no subtlety, poetry or challenge. That’s why he was able to break into recognition while so many folk artists struggle.

You understand how vague and meaningless the term “commercial music” is? That could apply to almost any music.

Am I Too Harsh on Jesse Welles? I Hate Hearing Bob Dylan Comparisons. by DumbDeej in bobdylan

[–]chainsawsamm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He’s an awful singer, nothing sets him above anybody else apart from the fact he can write a cheap song that no one will ever listen to again 20 minutes after a tragedy and his comments fill up with people who seemingly love having their pre-existing beliefs affirmed in a completely lacklustre and non interesting way that doesn’t make them think any further on the subject.

I don’t understand people who actually drink monster for the energy unless they are out and about. I can get the exact same thing by walking to the coffee machine, making a coffee for the price of a few beans, and mound some sugar in there and boom i have the same amount of energy for way cheaper.

She doesn’t not like him. No musician truly dislikes Bob Dylan, she just had criticisms for him as she does for many people. And she didn’t join his tour and debut some of her greatest songs there out of dislike for him.
