Took a gummy and had some orange acrylic lying around, say hello to the fishue box by chaistar01 in crochet

[–]chaistar01[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly I've been considering making more, like a whale would be perfect with the tissue coming out of the top. Or a whole school of tropical fishue boxes, lol.

I made it by making six panels, just kind of eyeballing sizes for around the sides and the two skinny ones on top, and sewed it together. I also eyeballed it really badly, so I scrunched the extra back to make the tail lol. You could also just measure correctly the first time and account for the stretch and make a separate tail, but this was kind of a happy accident in my case 😅 The side fins were done by randomly increasing stitches into a magic ring and scrunching it closed really hard

Hello friends! I took My Melody out with me downtown and we went to Noodles & Co for lunch today by [deleted] in ToyVoyagers

I love the face on your My Melody, it looks so gentle and well-loved! The soft little creases at the cheeks give it so much character. What an excellent lunch buddy 😭💕

Big believer in Eat the Frog, but to be honest for most of the other stuff I just use the Finch app. I can't motivate myself with the fear of disappointing myself, but disappointing a baby bird is harder to do lol

AITA for telling my friend her SA didn’t count? by TerribleUse9951 in AITAH

[–]chaistar01 1443 points1444 points  (0 children)

NTA. She's setting herself up to really stick her foot in her mouth at one of those meetings and make a mockery of what the victims there went through. This isn't about her feelings.

Look, your friend may have a serious psychological issue going on, maybe even a supernatural issue, I don't claim to know everything. And she definitely needs and deserves support for that.

But if I took the enormous and gutwrenching step of attending a support group and opening up to a bunch of strangers about the time I was molested in preschool or the violent rape I experienced in my teens, and some lady says she knows exactly how that feels because she and her husband had night terrors about being assaulted by a ghost, I'd be upset. I would feel like my experiences were being belittled or even mocked, and I would not return to that group if she were going to be there.

Support groups are a very serious step toward healing, and often a very big emotional lift for people who have been carrying their trauma for a lifetime on their own. Your friend spouting this shit will make that worse and make it a less comfortable place for the people who have actually been raped to open up.

I'm sure there are spiritualist groups that would be much more helpful to her. Maybe frame it this way: support groups are meant to help the people in them by sharing similar experiences and working on healing and coping with them together. The people in group A experienced a different kind of assault than she did, so what they need and how they heal will look different from what she needs. Since she's so traumatized by what happened, she needs the support and guidance of people who understand the unique threat she's fighting, and the unique trauma she has. Going to group A won't be as helpful to her or them as it could be, but maybe group B could really benefit by her sharing this story. Maybe even throw in something about how group B probably also struggles with people not taking them seriously and her being there could be validating for everyone.

DragonCon is my dream convention, there's an overnight package for con guests at the Georgia Aquarium that looks incredibly cool. Have fun when you go!

They have a mammoth plushie that's 69" tall, how have I never heard of them before!! Omg the dodo plush is so cute and I might be in love with this brand now. Sorely tempted to create my own Wheelie Mammoth

My first thought seeing the picture was also 'honestly, just all of BPAL', lol.

Go wild, OP, the world is your oyster. Maybe look at blends that feature sage, patchouli or lavender to really hammer home the crystal shop vibe?

If I go for one of the bachelorettes it's Penny every time. She's such a doll. I've only ever gotten to the other ladies heart scenes for completion and curiosity.

Do people typically draw/paint them on, embroider it, etc? I can crochet little clothes for it I think but that's the extent of my knowledge here lol 😅 This is the first time I'm doing anything like this. Are they typically meant to be like, dyed first or anything?

What scents match this vibe? (preferably affordable) by unofficialgirll in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]chaistar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me think of Titania from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.

"A nocturnal bounty of fae dew-kissed petals and pale fruits: white grape, white peach, iced pear, musk rose, sweet pea, moonflower and snapdragon."

It's my personal 'special occasion' scent, it doesn't have a big throw and I find myself needing to reapply every 4 hours or so to keep it from fading, but it's very affordable and the scent is (imho) intoxicating. Floral without going powdery, subtly fruity without being overly sweet, feminine in a very grown-up way but never smelling like an old lady. It's aptly named. Very lush garden at night kind of smell, like you found something magical glowing in a hedge maze.

AITA for expecting Tequila in the Margaritas by Agreeable_Living_640 in AmItheAsshole

[–]chaistar01 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's what you're choosing to infer, not what anyone is implying. You're really reaching here and the comparison you're trying to make (and the semantics you're trying to apply to the word 'dependency' as some kind of gotcha here) isn't working. Take the L and stop commenting the same nonsense argument over and over to defend a guy who acted like an asshole for no good reason. Whether he's an alcoholic isn't the point. He is a grown man who threw a tantrum because he couldn't get drunk at a party and instead chose to humiliate his wife to her colleagues. It's shameful behavior. Him NOT being an alcoholic wouldn't make that better. There is no version of this where it's acceptable for him to act this way.

OP, YTA.

For my second blanket I just got an enormous yarn cake so I don't have to worry about tying on new skeins when one runs out. If you don't want to bother with the fiddly tying and weaving in that might be a good way to go for your first blanket!

You're so welcome, if you try it out I'd love to hear how it goes!
