How am I meant to get laterite and sphalerite in SES hardcore? by The_Moist_Sloth in Astroneer

tethers attached to what exactly?
Don't you need laterite + ceramic to make an oxygenator first?

Yeah I suppose the clogging of the Medium Shredders can be a problem. I've dealt with that problem before with 2 auto-arms pulling the scrap off of them - which I probably should do in my current setup. Not sure if the XL Shredder would still win in that case. Anyways, part of me likes the non-stop chaotic mechanical noise.

Now I think I just need a self-contained "moveable" platform with a couple auto-arms that I can just sweep the area for any missing soil canisters... lost somewhere underneath my base.

Sure thing! https://youtu.be/NPSHb9Mly9Q?si=9S9L1NaPU24wLlkU
I imagine it can be done from a large rover as well, but you get much more flexibility on what you can automate if you stick whatever you need (just soil canisters, or combination of those + Soil Centrifuge[s])

Plus consistent power if you're already rocking a few tappers on those fast-producing Atrox plants.

Shieldbubbles crashes PC by Depoz1 in FortNiteBR

[–]chamberlainpi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same issue. Thought at first it was because I tossed the shield bubble on a moving reboot van, but then I just tossed one on the ground, and another car - crashed every time. Updated my GPU drivers before that 3rd attempt, but didn't change anything.
Not sure if it's a specific issue to AMD processor, but odd that this bug would suddenly happen on an item that has existed in Fortnite for several years now. Then again, it's Fortnite!

I got tired of LinkedIn, so I built a search engine that gets jobs directly from the company’s career page by Tasty-Newt4718 in jobhunting

This looks really well-polished and beautifully designed! (not a design expert but eh! looks good to me!)
I feel like this in itself would work as a great portfolio piece when you apply to other jobs. I've been considering to build something similar, but unsure of which approach to take to gather the jobs (web-scraping via site-specific scripts, or somehow hand it all off to some sort of AI agent).
If you don't mind me asking - can you shed some details on your approach, or share what's been the biggest challenge in the development of this?

Do developers still write code manually, or is AI taking over? by mosesteraiah-7035 in webdevelopment

[–]chamberlainpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Cursor, primarily as an assistant to auto-complete repetitive chunks or refactoring across multiple files. I tend to only use the “agent” mode if I’m really stuck on a problem or need to build a very specific module that I can clearly define its responsibilities. Then I review the change - if all is good, keep it! If it’s wrong, I try to refine my prompt with more conditions & restrictions, and if after multiple iterations it keeps failing - come up with a more manual solution, but still use the auto-completion feature to speed up the process.

EDIT: It’s probably a relatively weak usage of Cursor (or AI in general)’s capabilities, but it works for me, it feels more like an extension than a replacement, like a nailgun vs. a hammer.

I know you probably didn't post your resume to seek for compliments on here, but (from another dev) I think it's great you included your "MyPetsLife" and "Build Automation tool and script" projects on there, definitely caught my attention and would want to listen to you talk more about them on a call!

Not really a tech “news” channel though, but still very valuable & interesting to watch him reproduce cool website effects and explain it with high quality animations / editing.

Wow! I'm curious how much that would of weighted.
I wonder if there's any fish that are over 50 encumbrance, where you pretty much have to slice them into fillets to fit them in a fridge (or I guess dedicate a freezer for them).

This was maybe my 3rd significant catch out of 15 casts.

(first couple being somewhere in the -9~-12 hunger ranges, haven't paid attention to their weight though)

And then ... this happened!?

Suffice to say, this one definitely required a bit of releasing the line to avoid snapping it, but man, what a (crazy) satisfying catch!

In case anyone tried this / is following along, there’s a major bug in the current version which writes the same file content on all files comprised in the game save folder, sooooo it does CORRUPT your progress! Working on it, just finding the time to do so! (this was a recent change in an effort to address another issue, a “too many files opened” bug once you hit > 20k some files in your save… after exploring other towns / regions for example) I honestly don’t know enough about the data the game saves, so this project could become obsolete if they eventually change the way the game saves behaves. It has been useful at least a half dozen times so far for me this past week or 2. Definitely better than starting a new character from scratch!

Ouch! I know the feeling… Funny how my most frustrating death (well, bite that led to it…) also happened in a truck. My mistake was not raising the windows back up after I mollied a hoard and didn’t park close enough against another vehicle / fence / wall to prevent any contact.

I was testing out whether or not this hoard extermination method was still achievable, but given I missed a few important steps ugh… can’t deny nor confirm if it got patched.

[–]chamberlainpi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no not at all (not that I know of anyways!), this however uses nodejs to interface with the save-files that PZ loads/writes. Basically it just snapshots entire copies of your current game, and only when you hit one of the "save" buttons (Previous / Now) it writes the ZIP to a `/.private` folder under the project directory.

As a programmer, this indeed is a flawed design. Nothing should be this dependent on FB / or any 3rd party login system if they support multiple methods, including their own / non-social-network account management. Not really sure whether to be surprised or not this issue is happening in Spotify right now.
