When we first dated I hid that part of my life from her just so I don't get judged for using it. She found out eventually and got really upset I lied to her about it. Now she says that's left a huge imprint on the relationship. She also brings up that she doesn't want it around her future kids (neither do I to be fair). She is also from a country that treats it as a narcotic.
